G2 Esports and Fnatic, the two overwhelming favorites, are a combined 9-9 through the first month of the season. Seven of the ten European teams are either 4-5 or 5-4, and relative newcomers MAD Lions and Rogue are tied atop the table at 7-2. Every team had a week off to recharge last week, and that extra time is likely to lead to some new strategies on display this weekend.

2020 LEAGUE OF LEGENDS LEC SUMMER SPLIT WEEK 5 BETTING ODDS

SK GAMING -195
FC SCHALKE +140

The only LEC team with virtually no chance of making the postseason at this point is Schalke. They have mirrored their slow start to the Spring Split with an even slower start to the Summer Split, but at least they chalked up a win in their last match when they stunned Fnatic. Gilius was named the MVP with a 3/0/7 performance on Lee Sin, and Schalke only surrendered one death.

Schalke were smashed by SK Gaming the first time these teams squared off. Only a single kill from Abbedagge prevented Schalke from getting perfect gamed, as Crownshot’s Aphelios did well over 200 years’ worth of damage. Crownshot and ZaZee have been sharp throughout the split, so SK Gaming are the play despite the relatively high Esports betting odds.

ROGUE -250
EXCEL ESPORTS +180

It’s also wise to bet the favorite in the second match on Saturday. Rogue have been one of the most impressive teams of the Summer Split. We always knew this team was talented, but now the squad is piecing it all together. Vander has an LEC-best 13.3 KDA per Games of Legends despite being a support player, and Larssen has been superb in the mid lane with 31.6 percent of Rogue’s damage output.

Excel have shaken off an 0-4 start with wins in four of their last five matches, but this team is likely to be on the outside looking in for the playoffs. The bottom lane has been solid as Patrik is doling out a whopping 35.1 percent of his team’s damage, yet there has been inconsistency elsewhere on the map. The other two laners have not played particularly well, so it’s tough to see them getting past Rogue.

ORIGEN -125
MISFITS GAMING -110

Origen have been one of the most disappointing teams of the Summer Split. Xerxe has not had the same impact in the jungle that he had in the past, and Destiny has highlighted the steep learning curve OPL players have when coming to a better league. Thankfully, Upset continues to be a superb hard carry option, and he has been otherworldly on both Aphelios and Ezreal. Those are both power picks in the meta, so he will almost certainly jump on one of those two champions.

We saw Misfits pull off the upset the first time they faced Origen, but this team’s limitations have been highlighted. Doss has had a really tough time in support, and they don’t have the best microplay when they are ahead in the mid game.

FNATIC -305
TEAM VITALITY +215

A loss to Vitality would be absolutely disastrous for Fnatic. Their team chemistry appears to be fraying as they continue to lose to overmatched opponents, and they have now lost five of their last six matches. Everyone aside from Selfmade and Rekkles has really struggled, so it’s hard to lay the chalk given the League of Legends betting odds.

Milica has the skill to punish Nemesis in the mid lane. He is the next great European mid laner, and his play has helped turn Vitality into a real playoff contender. The bottom lane has improved over the last few weeks too, so they have a decent shot of dropping Fnatic.

G2 ESPORTS -170
MAD LIONS +125

Perkz will return to the lineup for G2 after taking Week 4 off. The Kings of Europe have run into some uncharacteristic issues this split, but there is no doubt they are the most talented squad in the LEC. Despite their shaky play at times, no team has anything close to the same ceiling as G2.

For MAD Lions to pull off the upset, they need strong play out of Shadow. Shadow may have surpassed Jankos as the best jungler in the LEC, and his play has been such a crucial part of the Lions’ surprising success.

Follow our BetOnline Twitter account for the latest sports news and betting odds, and stay tuned on the Instagram feed for more good information too.

It’s been a turbulent start to the LEC Summer Split.
