Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar will take on Pedro Munhoz in the headline fight of UFC on ESPN 15. Edgar is hoping that a win over Munhoz will lead to his 10th<\/sup> title fight, but he is a prohibitive underdog<\/a> to his opponent per the UFC betting odds. The main card will only have four fights as a bout between Angela Hill and Michelle Waterson was moved to next month. UFC on ESPN 15: Munhoz vs. Edgar will take place on Saturday, August 22, at UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada. The undercard will start at 5:30 p.m. ET, while the main card is slated to begin at 8:30 p.m. ET with ESPN and ESPN Plus broadcasting the event in its entirety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UFC on ESPN 15: Munhoz vs. Edgar Betting Odds<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pedro Munhoz -250<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will be Edgar\u2019s first fight as a bantamweight. Fans and pundits had called on Edgar to drop down to this weight class for years, and he has finally acquiesced in the twilight of his career. After losing the lightweight title and subsequent rematch to Benson Henderson, Edgar moved down to fight as a featherweight. He failed to beat Jose Aldo for the featherweight title in his debut, and he came up short in subsequent title fights with Aldo and Max Holloway. His loss to the Korean Zombie back in December led to him finally making the move to bantamweight, and he will face a tough test in No. 5 Pedro Munhoz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Munhoz has won seven of his last nine fights. He defeated No. 3 Cody Garbrandt by first-round knockout last March in a performance that earned him Fight of the Night, but he lost to Aljamain Sterling by unanimous decision at UFC 238 last June. Despite that loss, Dana White has left the door open for Munhoz to earn his first title fight with a win over Edgar, so he will be looking to prove he is deserving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although Munhoz is five years younger than Edgar, the former champion has a three-inch reach advantage. Edgar\u2019s team has close ties with Sterling\u2019s team, and they are sure to have some specific insight into how to win this bout. Munhoz tested positive for COVID-19 last month, and we have seen the virus affect athlete\u2019s stamina. That makes Edgar a great upset pick<\/a> on the MMA betting line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alonzo Menifield -126<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ovince Saint Preux +106<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Menifield suffered the first loss of his career at UFC 250. He had dispatched all eight of his previous opponents within two rounds prior to the defeat, and the two fights that went into the second round only lasted for an additional 30 seconds. Devin Clark proved that if you can whether the storm early, you can wear Menifield out in the second and third rounds, and that will almost certainly be the gameplan for Saint Preux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will be Saint Preux\u2019s return to light heavyweight after he moved up to heavyweight to take on Ben Rothwell three months ago. Saint Preux is the underdog here because he has lost four of his last six fights, but he is a veteran with 38 matches under his belt. That experience makes him a solid underdog play as he is also far more proficient on the ground than Menifield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mike Rodriguez -225<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marcin Prachnio +190<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prachnio came to the UFC after winning eight straight fights in other promotions. He has not looked great since making his debut though, getting knocked out in the first round in his two previous UFC fights. Meanwhile, Rodriguez has only won once in four fights with the UFC, and he was knocked out early by Da Un Jung in December. Both fighters know they need to prove themselves, so look for both to try to win this bout within the distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daniel Rodriguez -190<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Takashi Sato +165<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the opening fight of the main card, Sato is the bigger name. He was a famous fighter in Japan before joining the UFC, but he is just 2-1 since joining the promotion. Rodriguez has won his first two fights since entering the UFC earlier this year, and his eight straight victories ahead of this bout have led to him being the favorite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
