UFC 253 was the first promotion held here last weekend, and that event lived up to the billing with Israel Adesanya successfully defending his middleweight belt against Paulo Costa. Dana White and everyone watching at home hope that this week’s card is just as good, and the headline fight will pit Holly Holm against Irene Aldana.

UFC Fight Night: Holm vs. Aldana will air on Saturday, October 3, in the United States with the prelims starting at 7:30 p.m. ET and airing on ESPN Plus. The main event will air on ESPN starting at 10:30 p.m. ET.

UFC Fight Night: Holm vs. Aldana Betting Odds

Holly Holm -115

Irene Aldana -105

Holm made a name for herself by becoming the first person to defeat Ronda Rousey. She beat Rousey for the women’s bantamweight title at UFC 193 back in November, becoming the first fighter to win major titles in both boxing and the UFC. Before she moved to MMA, Holm was the IBA and WBF light welterweight champion, so you know she is more than happy to stand and trade.

However, since her victory over Rousey, she has struggled to find success. Holm has lost five of her last eight fights, and her only impressive performance was a third-round knockout of Bethe Correia. She was controlled on the mat by Miesha Tate, Valentina Shevchenko, and Germaine de Randamie, and Amanda Nunes knocked Holm out in the first round last summer.

Aldana has won five of her last six fights, and her one loss was a split decision defeat at the hands of Raquel Pennington. She has shown that she can get it done on the ground with three submission victories, including one over Correia, and half of her victories have come by knockout.

These two were supposed to meet at UFC Fight Night 173 back in August, but Aldana had to pull out after a positive COVID-19 test. She doesn’t have the same name recognition as Holm, so look for the UFC betting odds to move against her prior to Saturday. Aldana is a solid fighter, so pounce on her at what will likely be plus odds.

Yorgan De Castro -260

Carlos Felipe +220

These two heavyweights are both looking to make a name for themselves in the UFC. Yorgan de Castro fell from the ranks of the unbeaten the last time he entered the Octagon. After a solid start against Greg Hardy, de Castro wore down after repeated leg kicks from Hardy, resulting in a defeat by unanimous decision. His corner likely spent a significant amount of time teaching him to avoid those over the last five months, but Carlos Felipe will certainly test him.

Felipe is 8-1 as a professional fighter, but he lost his UFC debut to Sergey Spivak back in July. That was just his second fight in the last three years, so conditioning is a concern for the big man. Those worries make him a risky bet, leading to him being one of the biggest underdogs on the card.

Germaine De Randamie -135

Julianna Pena +115

Over the last four years, De Randamie has experienced plenty of ups and downs. She won the UFC women’s featherweight championship over Holm at UFC 208 in February 2017, but she lost the title after refusing to fight Cris Cyborg. We didn’t see her in the Octagon again until nearly two years later when she beat Raquel Pennington, and a quick first-round TKO of Aspen Ladd led to a chance to take on Amanda Nunes for the women’s bantamweight championship. De Randamie was dominated in that fight, losing the bout by unanimous decision, but there’s no shame in losing to Nunes.

As for Pena, she is currently rated the No. 4 women’s bantamweight in the world. A victory for her could lead to a shot at taking on Nunes, but we’ve only seen her defeat one name opponent. Pena won a unanimous decision over Jessica Eye at UFC 192, but that bout was five years ago. Pena has only been in the Octagon once since her loss to Valentina Shevchenko in January 2017, so it’s hard to trust her as a short underdog per the UFC betting odds.

Follow our Twitter account for the latest sports news and wagering odds, and come to our Instagram for more useful betting info too.

Following the success of Fight Island earlier this summer, the UFC decided to head back to Abu Dhabi for at…

[138

post-13725","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-mma
["GET
