Yes, the Browns are playing an NFC East team on Sunday Night Football and we’re all OK with it. These are strange times.

CLEVELAND BROWNS AT NEW YORK GIANTS (+6.5, O/U: 44)

Location: MetLife Stadium, New York, N.Y.

Kickoff: Dec. 20, 8:20 p.m. EST

Broadcast: NBC

THE HISTORY

Up until the AFL-NFL merger in 1970, the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants had two annual meetings a season since 1950. In fact, that came from a different merger, when the NFL ate up the old AAFL after the 1949 season, bringing in the Browns, the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Colts in the process.

Since that 1970 merger, the meetings have been few and far between and in spite of sharing a conference for 20 years, they’ve played only 51 times, with two of those games coming in the postseason. Cleveland holds a 27-22-2 lead in the all time series and finished up their time in the NFL/NFC with a 1-1 playoff record against the G-Men.

Their last meeting was a 27-13 Giants win back on Nov. 27, 2016. New York QB and Future Hall of Famer Eli Manning threw for 194 yards and three touchdowns in the victory. Odell Beckham Jr., who currently sits on Cleveland’s injured reserve, caught six passes for 96 yards and two TDs. The Browns got a pretty terrific game out of their QB, Josh McCown, who tossed 322 yards worth of passes along with a touchdown. Terrelle Pryor caught six passes for 131 yards in the loss.

CLEVELAND BROWNS (9-4)

In spite of last week’s defeat, Baker Mayfield is probably in the midst of his best stretch as a professional quarterback. Against a stout Ravens defense, Mayfield threw for 342 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He also rushed for a TD. Nick Chubb carried the ball 17 times for 82 yards and two scores. Kareem Hunt caught six passes out of the backfield for 77 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 33 yards and a TD.

NEW YORK GIANTS (5-8)

The Giants had a four game win streak halted by the Arizona Cardinals in a disappointing 26-7 slog. Daniel Jones threw for 127 yards, no TDs and no picks, but he was sacked six times, yes, SIX, and his status for this game is uncertain. If he can’t go, back up Colt McCoy isn’t a huge drop off, but he was beat up too, getting sacked twice himself in that same game.

THE PICK

While Cleveland should absolutely be ashamed of itself and the way its defense played against Baltimore, the Giants are much more conventional and, more importantly, much more accommodating on the offensive line. This team gave up eight sacks last week to the Cards. I think Myles Garrett might just meet a contract incentive Sunday night. Browns 27, Giants 16

Follow our BetOnline Twitter account for the latest sports news and betting odds, and stay tuned on the Instagram feed for more good information too.

BY ADAM GREENE For the second week in a row the Cleveland Browns play in prime time and considering Monday…

[129

post-14907","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl
["GET
