Kamaru Usman will defend his welterweight title in the main event of UFC 258 the day before Valentine\u2019s Day. Usman will be facing Gilbert Burns, and he is a substantial favorite<\/a> per the oddsmakers. Burns is no pushover though with six straight victories and two consecutive Performance of the Night accolades to his credit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The preliminary card for UFC 258: Usman vs. Burns will start on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 8 p.m. ET with the main card starting at 10 p.m. ET. UFC 258 will take place at the UFC Apex Training Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Usman is making a case for being the best pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC. He lost his second bout as a professional almost eight years ago, but he has not lost a bout since that point. Usman claimed the welterweight belt when he beat Tyron Woodley in a unanimous decision win at UFC 235. Since that point, he has defended his title against Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal. His last five fights have all made it to the fifth round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burns had a more promising start to his career. He won his first seven fights before moving to UFC, and he ran his overall record to 10-0 before losing a unanimous decision to Rashid Magomedov in November 2015. Burns suffered losses to Michel Prazeres and Dan Hooker as well before going on this run. In the last three years, we have seen him win all those fights, capped off with a first-round TKO of Demian Maia and a unanimous decision win over Woodley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alexa Grasso -125<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although she is ranked five spots behind Barber in the most recent UFC rankings, Grasso is considered a slight favorite<\/a> ahead of this bout. She has alternated wins and losses after a 9-0 start, but it looks like a recent switch to flyweight might pay off in a big way for Grasso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will be Barber\u2019s 10th<\/sup> fight. She won her first eight bouts in a span of 28 months before suffering a tough loss at UFC 246 to Roxanne Modafferi. For the second time in her young career, Barber was taken to the cards and she lost a unanimous decision. Five of his eight wins have come by knockout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ian Heinisch +177<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gastelum started his career at 10-0. However, he has not been the same in about five years with a 5-6-1 record over that stretch. His losses were to stars like Woodley, Neil Magny, Chris Weidman, Israel Adesanya, Darren Till, and Jack Hermansson, but it doesn\u2019t feel any better. He hasn\u2019t won a bout since May 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a sizable step up for Heinisch. He started his career with a 10-1 record in smaller promotions before joining the UFC. Heinisch won his first three fights for Dana White, but he has lost two out of three in the last 18 months. While he lost unanimous decisions to Derek Brunson and Omari Akhmedov, he comes into this bout with a win after a first-round TKO of Gerald Meerschaert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
