Even though the last Mid-Season Invitational winner hailed from Europe, teams from Korea and China are the overwhelming favorites<\/a> to win the 2021 MSI. G2 Esports defeated SK Telecom T1 and then knocked off Team Liquid after their stunning upset of Invictus Gaming to claim Europe\u2019s first major international tournament win in 2019. However, MAD Lions are not being accorded the same respect by the oddsmakers despite beating G2 twice in the 2021 LEC Summer Split Playoffs. Can MAD Lions shock the world by reigning supreme in Iceland?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DWG KIA had to be the odds-on favorites<\/a> as the defending world champions. They have been the best team in the world since the summer of last year, winning the last two LCK titles with ease. Although they lost top laner Nuguri to FunPlus Phoenix, they brought back Khan from the LPL and haven\u2019t missed a beat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Canyon is the best jungler in the world, and Beryl is probably the best support in the world too. ShowMaker is an S-Tier mid laner that is easily one of the top five at his position as well, and it\u2019s just hard to beat that combination of talent. Khan has thrived in an off-lane tank role in the top lane, and he can still win his lane in certain matchups too. Bottom laner Ghost hasn\u2019t been much of a weak link either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The biggest threat to DWG KIA at this year\u2019s MSI is Royal Never Give Up. The LPL champions survived the toughest league in the world to make it to Iceland, and they are looking to win their second MSI. They were led by Uzi and Xiaohu at that tournament, but Uzi has since retired and Xiaohu now plays in the top lane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Xiaohu\u2019s move to the top lane has been instrumental to RNG\u2019s success this season. That has allowed Cryin to shine in the mid lane, while Ming continues to be one of the best support players in the world. Wei is a jungler to keep your eye on too, as he should be the second-best jungler at MSI other than Canyon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MAD Lions surprised G2 and Rogue to win their first LEC title and book a ticket to MSI. They have had outstanding play from top laner Armut and jungler Elyoya of late, and these two rookies need to continue to play well for MAD Lions to have a chance to pull off the upset. Humanoid is probably not a top three mid laner at this event, and the bottom lane is a big question mark on this stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re going to back a longshot<\/a>, go with the experience of Cloud9. Although Fudge is a major concern in the top lane, Perkz and Zven have a ton of international experience. Perkz proved to be worth the money after moving over from G2, and although Zven isn\u2019t the most talented bottom laner, this isn\u2019t likely to be a meta that prioritizes bottom laners. Blaber is a very good jungler, and Vulcan is a very underrated support for C9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
