Although the PGA Championship is next week, three of the biggest names on the PGA Tour are taking part in this year\u2019s AT&T Byron Nelson. Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, and Jordan Spieth are the three favorites<\/a> heading into the 2021 Byron Nelson. Neither one of those three heavyweights has ever won this event before though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This event was previously held at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas. It will be held at TPC Craig Ranch for the first time this year, so almost every golfer is playing here for the first time this week. Defending champion Kang Sung-hoon calls this course home, but he won\u2019t be part of the field despite shooting a record tying 23-under in 2019. Aaron Wise initially set the record with a 23-under in 2018, and he will be part of the action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sergio Garcia will be the only two-time winner in the field. Garcia won the Byron Nelson in a playoff over Robert Damron and Dudley Hart in 2004, and he claimed his second title in a playoff against Brooks Koepka in 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Course<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t expect to see any golfer break the tournament record this time. TPC Craig Ranch is a challenging course with plenty to throw even the best golfers in the world off their game. These greens are some of the most difficult to read for players not acclimated to their intricacies, so the short game will weed out a lot of competitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Longshots may be worth more of a look this week. TPC Craig Ranch was the site of the Korn Ferry Tour Championship in 2008 and 2012, and this has been a Q School location for the last several years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Value Play to Win the Tournament: Jordan Spieth +1200<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spieth has been red hot over the last three months and is a threat to win any event<\/a> in his native Texas. He won the Valero Texas Open in early April, and he has four other T4 finishes in his last eight tournaments. We haven\u2019t seen him tee it up at an event since April\u2019s Masters, and he finished T3 in Augusta. Spieth is currently ranked eighth in the FedEx Cup rankings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Top 5 Prop: Scottie Scheffler +350<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scheffler is a popular pick to win this week. Although DeChambeau gets a lot of the attention, it\u2019s Scheffler that leads the PGA Tour in driving. He was the Korn Ferry Tour Player of the Year in 2019 and the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in 2020, but he has yet to win a tournament on the PGA Tour. This could be his first big breakthrough, as he played college at the University of Texas and is familiar with winds in this area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
