The Rumble Stage largely shook out as expected. Oceania\u2019s champion Pentanet.GG struggled to win a game, and their lone victory came against the other team that failed to make the semifinals. Cloud9 showed that North America was as weak as everyone believed by going 3-7 in the double round robin, and the LCS will now have to be a qualifier at the World Championships. Every other team went at least 5-5 with DWG KIA and Royal Never Give Up leading the way. They have been the favorites to win the 2021 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational from the start, and both teams are heavy favorites<\/a> in their semifinals series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These teams split their two games in the Rumble Stage. PSG Talon outskirmished Royal Never Give Up in the first meeting between these teams and kept RNG\u2019s mid laner Cryin without a kill. Bottom laner GALA was killed eight times, as Talon continually punished RNG\u2019s bottom lane. The rematch was closer and essentially evenly matched until the 30-minute mark when RNG won a team fight and used it to win the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Given what happened in the two previous games, PSG Talon should not be this much of an underdog<\/a>. Maple and Hanabi are very experienced players, River has played well in the jungle, and Doggo and Kaiwing have come together nicely over the last month. Meanwhile, Wei and Cryin have not been at their best in Iceland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This line is largely due to the LPL\u2019s dominance as a league. There is no doubt that the best league in the world from top to bottom is the LPL, and RNG bested Top Esports, Invictus Gaming, FunPlus Phoenix, JD Gaming, and Edward Gaming to get here. However, they should only be a -400 or -450 favorite in this series, so the value lies in PSG Talon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DWG KIA\u2019s only two losses in the Rumble Stage were to RNG. They largely dominated their other opponents, but they didn\u2019t have the easiest time with the MAD Lions. Europe\u2019s representative proved they belonged on this stage with a win over RNG on the last day of the Rumble Stage. However, it\u2019s going to be tough for the MAD Lions to beat DWG Kia three times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That being said, DWG KIA is not as unbeatable as previously believed. The defending world champions have not had a firm grasp of the meta, and Khan has been punished in the top lane. Beryl and Ghost haven\u2019t been at their best in the bottom lane, while Kaiser and Carzzy have been fantastic for MAD Lions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If MAD Lions can keep ShowMaker and Canyon contained, they have a chance to pull off what would be a monumental upset<\/a>. They are likely to have at least a few things up their sleeve in preparation for this series, and DWG KIA might not be able to adapt in time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
