Any game would probably be a letdown after last week\u2019s epic overtime thriller between the Las Vegas Raiders and Baltimore Ravens, but it\u2019s hard to see a worse game to follow it up with than Jared Goff and the new-look Detroit Lions traveling to historic Lambeu Field to take on Aaron Rodgers and a Green Bay Packers team who just had one of the worst opening week performances in NFL history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s not hyperbole. Rodgers\u2019 32.8 passer rating in a 38-3 loss to the New Orleans Saints was nearly seven points lower than if he\u2019d just fired every pass into the turf. It was the lowest passer rating for a reigning NFL MVP in the following season\u2019s opener in league history and the Pack\u2019s three points was the lowest point total for the team with the reigning MVP in league history. It was as bad as it gets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The series between the two teams goes all the way back to 1930 with Green Bay holding a 104-72-7 edge in the all-time match up. The Packers have won four straight over Detroit, but before that, the Lions got the Pack four times in a row. Of course, that was with Matthew Stafford at QB in Detroit and Mike McCarthy calling plays for Green Bay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lions were downright respectable in Week 1 in a 41-33 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Jared Goff, making his regular season debut in a Detroit uniform, was 38 of 57 for 338 yards, three touchdowns and a pick. The pick wasn\u2019t even that bad, as his arm was hit on the throw and it knocked the pass off target. They were still not able to manufacture much of a running game, but being down 31-10 at halftime will do that. The fact that they made it interesting at all, after everyone (including me) had written them off, was surprising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GREEN BAY PACKERS (0-1)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, if you want to talk about surprising, nothing surpasses the utter humiliation the Packers suffered at the hands of the New Orleans Saints. Rodgers finished 15 of 28 for 133 yards and two interceptions. Green Bay rushed for 43 yards as a team and its leading rusher, A.J. Dillon, had 19 yards. The savagery didn\u2019t even end when Rodgers was pulled in the fourth quarter as back up Jordan Love lost a fumble. This wasn\u2019t a film you burn after the game. This was a tape that requires an exorcist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

THE PICK<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This line, as scary as it is, has only grown since it opened at the beginning of the week. Apparently people are betting hard on a Green Bay bounce back, but I\u2019m not so sure. Yes, I think the Pack will win. But Detroit gave a good San Francisco team all they could handle last week and I\u2019m not sure that spread holds up. Packers 30, Lions 21<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
