His Ole Miss Rebels are heavy underdogs against the Alabama Crimson Tide, but we have seen Mississippi shock before in this situation. They upset the Crimson Tide in back-to-back years in 2014 and 2015, and they have an offense that can score some points on Nick Saban’s defense.

Ole Miss will head to Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to take on the Crimson Tide on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.

College Football Betting Odds

Ole Miss +14

Alabama -14

Total 79

Alabama has the longest winning streak in the nation. The Crimson Tide went undefeated en route to winning a national championship last year and started their season with a blowout win over Miami. They easily handled Mercer and Southern Miss, and they survived a tough encounter with Florida in The Swamp.

The Rebels hammered Louisville in their season opener and had little trouble with FCS Austin Peay five days later. Ole Miss faced a tricky non-conference test against Tulane two weeks ago as the game was delayed by several hours due to weather, but the Rebels won by 40 points in a laugher. They have had two weeks to prepare for the Crimson Tide.

When Alabama Has the Ball

In a year where new quarterbacks are struggling throughout the sport; Bryce Young has ensured that Alabama hasn’t missed a beat. Young is completing 72.1% of his passes for 1,124 yards with 15 touchdowns and an interception. He is thriving despite not having DeVonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle, or Najee Harris, using Jameson Williams and John Metchie III in the passing game.

The ground game is as solid as ever with Brian Robinson Jr. and Jase McClellan toting the rock. They have teamed up to average 5.2 YPC this season, and they will look to run the ball against an Ole Miss defense that is still somewhat tested.

It looks like the Rebels have improved on defense. They are allowing 22.5 PPG and 330.0 YPG through their first three games, but they have yet to play an offense with this much talent. Ole Miss is 57th in Defensive SP+, so they are going to give up some points.

When Ole Miss Has the Ball

Matt Corral is having a great season in Oxford. Corral is flourishing under Kiffin, completing 68.8% of his passes for 997 yards with nine touchdowns and no turnovers. He has two big play threats at receiver in Dontario Drummond and Jonathan Mingo, and he will look to beat this Alabama defense over the top a few times.

The Rebels should have some success on the ground too. Ole Miss is averaging 6.2 YPC through three games and already has 11 rushing touchdowns. Jerrion Ealy and Henry Parrish Jr. are the top two backs, while Corral is moving the chains with his legs as well.

Alabama isn’t that great on defense this season. The Crimson Tide haven’t been as strong in the front seven, and they are also dealing with injuries. That has led to the oddsmakers putting this total in the high 70s, and the last two games between these teams have had at least 90 points scored.

Prediction

Ole Miss is competent enough on offense to get the cover here. The Rebels won’t stop the Crimson Tide much, but Alabama’s defense isn’t going to have a lot of success either.

Follow our Twitter account for the latest sports news and wagering odds, and come to

our Instagram for more useful betting info too.

Lane Kiffin will return to Tuscaloosa for the first time since he left T Town this weekend.
