Now, it has the smell of hot garbage.

The Dolphins’ season has been a disaster that saw them lose seven straight before finally stopping the bleeding last week. Baltimore has gone back and forth from being a team barely hanging on to beat bad squads, to one that looks like the best in the AFC. I don’t feel that Thursday Night Football’s match up at Hard Rock Stadium will do much to change either team’s destiny or perception at this point.

This will be the 17th all time meeting between the two clubs. The Ravens lead the series 10-6 and have won their last three match ups and eight of the last nine going all the way back to 2008. They last played two seasons ago with Baltimore notching a 59-10 victory. Jackson threw for 324 yards and five touchdowns in the win. Tight end Mark Andrews caught eight passes for 108 yards and a TD. Ryan Fitzpatrick did the heavy, and worthless, lifting for Miami, throwing for 185 yards, a touchdown and a pick.

BALTIMORE RAVENS AT MIAMI DOLPHINS (+7.5, O/U: 46.5)

Location: Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Fla.

Broadcast: FOX/NFL Network

Kickoff: Nov. 11, 8:20 p.m.

BALTIMORE RAVENS (6-2)

The Ravens bounced back from an embarrassing loss to the Cincinnati Bengals to win by the hair of their chinny chin chins in a 34-31 triumph over the Minnesota Vikings in overtime Sunday. Jackson threw for 266 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions and led all rushers with 21 carries for 120 yards. Marquise Brown caught nine passes for 116 yards. Baltimore’s defense never got a paw on Kirk Cousins and surrendered 110 yards to Dalvin Cook nearly falling in the upset before Justin Tucker did that thing he does where he wins games in the last seconds or overtime.

MIAMI DOLPHINS (2-7)

The Dolphins stopped their near season long losing skid the only way they could, by beating the Houston Texans 17-9. Starting in the place of Tua Tagovailoa, Jacoby Brissett threw for 244 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Miles Gaskin scored a touchdown, but gained only 34 yards on 20 carries. Jaylen Waddle caught eight passes for 83 yards. Miami’s defense sacked Tyrod Taylor five times and intercepted him thrice. Yes. Thrice is the word I’m using. They also forced a Jordan Akins fumble.

THE PICK

Tagovailoa’s status remains up in the air as I’m writing this, but I’m not sure it matters. Baltimore didn’t cover last week and had a long, gritty game in OT just to pull out the victory. Now they’ve got to try again on a short week. I think they get the victory, but don’t beat the spread.
