This just might be one of the best classic playoff match ups of all time. Certainly of my lifetime as the San Francisco 49ers travel to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers in the Saturday nightcap of the NFL\u2019s Divisional Playoff Round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 49ers had to battle their way into the playoffs and showed they deserved to be there, knocking off the Dallas Cowboys last week in one of only two nailbiters in an otherwise forgettable Super Wild Card Weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Green Bay, thanks to midseason stumbles by the Rams and Buccaneers, landed a first round bye and got the week off to let Aaron Rodgers rub whatever cattle medicine he saw fit onto his injured toe in an effort to heal it for this game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will be the 72nd<\/sup> all time meeting between the Packers and Niners. They last hooked up back in September, with Green Bay holding on for a 30-28 victory. Rodgers finished 23 of 33 for 261 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions in the win. Aaron Jones rushed 19 times for 82 yards and Devante Adams caught 12 passes for 132 yards and a TD. In the loss, Jimmy Garoppolo threw for 257 yards, two touchdowns and a pick. George Kittle caught seven passes for 92 yards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will be the ninth playoff match up between the franchises. The postseason series is tied 4-4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SAN FRANCISCO<\/strong> 49ERS AT GREEN BAY PACKERS (-6, O\/U: 47)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SAN FRANCISCO<\/strong> 49ERS (11-7)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 49ers grinded their way to a 23-17 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card round a week ago in a game that didn\u2019t really feel that close. San Fran led 23-7 heading into the fourth quarter. Garoppolo finished 15 of 25 for 172 yards, no touchdowns and an interception. Eli Mitchell rushed 27 times for 96 yards and a touchdown. Deebo Samul had 72 yards and a TD on the ground and caught three passes for 38 yards. Brandon Aiyuk caught five passes for 66 yards. The Niners defense sacked Dak Prescott five times, picked him off once and held Dallas to just 77 yards on the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GREEN BAY PACKERS (13-4)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having already locked up home field, the Packers\u2019 last game was meaningless. Still, they played starters for a half against the Detroit Lions, but still lost 37-30 in Week 18. Rodgers, in limited action, was 14 of 18 for 138 yards and two touchdowns. Jordon Love, coming out of the bullpen, was 10 of 17 for 134 yards, a touchdown and two picks. AJ Dillon rushed for 63 yards and Allen Lazard caught five passes for 75 yards and two scores. Green Bay\u2019s defense sacked Jared Goff only once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

THE PICK<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I mentioned in my Bengals \u2014 Titans pick, no result this week will surprise me. As such, I\u2019m playing the odds. This spread is way too high. Pretty much this same 49ers team came into Lambeau two years ago and blew the Packers out in the NFC Championship game. Kyle Shanahan has a knack for embarrassing Sean McVay-ish coaches and Matt LaFleur is one. In fact, San Francisco has beaten Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers at QB all three times they\u2019ve met in the playoffs. That streak has to end sometime, but I don\u2019t like this line at all. Packers 23, 49ers 20<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
