This is one of the most talent-filled NBA Drafts we have had in recent years. There are three players that would be No. 1 picks in some years as Jabari Smith Jr., Chet Holmgren, and Paolo Banchero could all be stars at the next level. Smith is currently the odds-on favorite<\/a> to be the No. 1 pick, but the Orlando Magic are keeping their options open with a day before the NBA Draft. Things could get very exciting at No. 4 as Sacramento has that pick, and the Kings are rumored to be interested in moving down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2022 NBA Draft will take place on Thursday, June 23, from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. It will start at 7:30 p.m. ET and is going to be broadcast on both ABC and ESPN. The NBA Draft usually has 60 picks, but there are only 58 picks this year as Milwaukee and Miami both surrendered their second-round picks as a result of tampering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who Will be the No. 1 Overall Pick in the NBA Draft?

We have seen a lot of changes in the betting odds for the No. 1 overall pick. Jabari Smith Jr. has always been the favorite, but he was formerly only a slight favorite<\/a> ahead of Chet Holmgren. Paolo Banchero was a distant third, but the freshman from Duke has seen some action in his favor. Smith was just a -150 favorite a few days ago, so a consensus has emerged among the betting public even though Orlando has yet to tip its hand one way or the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At these odds, the value is gone from Smith. Orlando might still draft Holmgren although he isn\u2019t receiving a lot of action as he has built-in chemistry with Jalen Suggs from Gonzaga, and he fits the Magic model of athletic big men with long wingspans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If Holmgren doesn\u2019t go No. 1 overall, the Oklahoma City Thunder will likely take him at No. 2, and that would almost certainly lead to Banchero going at No. 3 if he is still on the board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is where the draft gets interesting. Sam Vecenie of The Athletic has repeatedly said that Jaden Ivey should be included in the first tier of players along with Smith, Banchero, and Holmgren, but he is in the minority with that opinion. Still, Ivey is seen by many as the fourth-best player in the NBA Draft although he doesn\u2019t necessarily fit well with De\u2019Aaron Fox. That has led to speculation that the Kings may go with Murray. Since Sacramento may trade this pick, there is a decent amount of value<\/a> in Ivey although the Kings might be reticent to take him themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where Will Benedict Mathurin be Selected?

Under 6.5 Position -240<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It might seem risky to take the \u2018Under\u2019 with Bennedict Mathurin here considering he has no chance of being selected in the top four, but Mathurin is clearly one of the best five or six players in the draft. The Arizona product has the size and athleticism you want from a guard, and he plays with an edge. Mathurin has the range teams are looking for in a perimeter player, and he can crash the boards effectively with his frame. Both Detroit and Indiana could really use a player with his skillset, so he is likely to go to one of those two teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
