The 2021-22 PGA Tour season will come to an end this weekend in Atlanta, Georgia. The top 30 golfers on the PGA Tour will take part in The TOUR Championship, and the competition will be fierce considering the winner will receive a whopping $18 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is not an ordinary tournament though, as golfers will be given Starting Strokes depending on their place in the current FedEx Cup Rankings. The No. 1 golfer will start 10-under, the No. 2 golfer will start 8-under, the No. 3 golfer will start 7-under, the No. 4 golfer will start 6-under, and the No. 5 golfer will start 5-under. From there, golfers ranked 6-10 start at 4-under, golfers ranked 11-15 start at 3-under, golfers ranked 16-20 start at 2-under, golfers ranked 21-25 start at 1-under, and golfers ranked 26-30 start at even par. This is a par-70 course that is nearly 7,350 yards long, but it hasn\u2019t changed much over the last few years. The greens are extremely fast, and that led to the entrants combining to average 68.8 in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In order to add an extra layer of excitement, the front nine and back nine for this competition were flipped several years ago. Previously, the competition ended on a par-3, but now it ends on a par-5 hole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Best Bet to Win the TOUR Championship: Patrick Cantlay +425<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The reigning FedEx Cup champion has the potential to make history on Sunday. Patrick Cantlay won the BMW Championship last year, allowing him to start the TOUR Championship 10-under, and he eventually beat Jon Rahm by one stroke to win this event. Cantlay is coming off his second consecutive BMW Championship last week, and now he will start this tournament at eight-under.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Cantlay has been very consistent over the last four months. He has six T5 finishes in his last 11 tournaments with two victories and two runner-up finishes. Cantlay will start the tournament two strokes behind Scottie Scheffler, but he has outperformed Scheffler recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Value Play to Win the TOUR Championship: Rory McIlroy +1200<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n There are only so many candidates<\/a> you can pick here given the nature of the Starting Strokes system. McIlroy won the TOUR Championship in 2016 and 2019, and he is currently in line to win the Vardon Trophy as the lowest scoring golfer all year.
