In spite of logic and reality, the Los Angeles Chargers have not yet been eliminated from AFC Wild Card contention. That should be taken care of on Christmas Eve, as Santa will bring the Chargers the gift of staying home for the Holidays, all of them, literally right up to Valentines Day, as they welcome the surging Buffalo Bills to SoFi Stadium Saturday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Considering these are two of the original AFL franchises, you might be surprised to see that this will just be the 41st<\/sup> meeting between the two clubs. Los Angeles holds a solid 25-13-2 lead in the series and has won four of their last five meetings going all the way back to 2011. The Bills did notch the win in their last contest, 27-17, back on Nov. 29, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the win, Josh Allen was 18 of 24 passing for 157 yards, one touchdown and a pick. He rushed nine times for 32 yards and a score. Devin Singletary (now with the Houston Texans) carried the ball 11 times for 82 yards. Gabriel Davis caught three passes for 79 yards and a TD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the loss, Jurin Herbert (now out for the season) went 31 of 52 passing for 316 yards, one TD and an interception. Austin Ekeler rushed 14 times for 44 yards and caught 11 passes for 85 yards. Hunter Henry (now with the New England Patriots) had seven receptions for 67 yards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bills continued to reap the rewards of firing Ken Dorsey and replacing him with Joe Brady, dominating the Dallas Cowboys to the tune of 31-10 last Sunday. Josh Allen barely had to do anything thanks to a ridiculous performance from Buffalo\u2019s defense. Allen finished 7 of 15 passing for 94 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. He rushed eight times for 24 yards and a score. James Cook had 25 carries for 179 yards and a TD. He added two receptions for 42 yards and a touchdown. Stefon Diggs caught four balls for 48 yards. The defense sacked Dak Prescott three times, picked him off once and held Dallas to just 89 total yards on the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (5-9)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brandon Staley finally saw his head coaching tenure come to an end in Los Angeles as the Chargers were obliterated last Thursday night, 63-21, by the Las Vegas Raiders in one of the worst, most lopsided losses in NFL history. Easton Stick (a real person, I have learned) was 22 of 32 passing for 257 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in the loss. Isaiah Spiller rushed 16 times for 50 yards. Joshua Palmer caught four passes for 113 yards and a TD. The defense sacked Aiden O\u2019Connell once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

THE PICK<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes firing a bad head coach can give a team a real boost. You see it every year, with an underperforming squad picking up a victory for their new interim guy. I don\u2019t think LA interim, Giff Smith, can expect that kind of result this week. Not with fake AI creation Easton Stick at QB. Bills 34, Chargers 20<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
