But in the betting world, you’re also trying to find some value considering

most of the action will center around Ohtani, Acuna Jr., and Betts. So we’ll dive into the obvious

choices but also try to find a player that could be a bit of a sleeper in 2024.

Top Contenders

Ronald Acuna Jr., Atlanta Braves (+375)

The defending NL MVP comes off an impressive campaign where he became the first player in

MLB history to hit 40 home runs and steal 70 bases. With new base size and pickoff rules,

Acuna smashed his previous high in stolen bases, almost doubling it, going from 37 to 70. After

ACL surgery in 2022, Acuna still hit 41 home runs. It wouldn’t be a stretch to see him improve

on those numbers and if he has a repeat of 2023 it would be a massive surprise if he didn’t win

back-to-back trophies. But at +375 it may not be as appealing as some of the others.

Shohei Ohtani, Los Angeles Dodgers (+500)

After winning two of the last three AL MVP awards, Shohei Ohtani switched over to the National

League, joining some other big bats. Last season, the Japanese superstar finished with 34

home runs and struck out 219 batters. But Ohtani won’t be pitching in 2024, thus relying just on

his bat to chase another MVP award.

Mookie Betts, Los Angeles Dodgers (+675)

Ohtani’s teammate, Mookie Betts, could pick up some of the votes that Ohtani would have

received if he pitched. Betts, who won the AL MVP in 2018, comes off a 39 home run, 107 RBI

season but he’s expected to be the difference, defensively, for the World Series favorites. Betts

is moving from right field to second base. If he’s able to repeat his hitting production from 2023,

the MVP voting could come down to Betts and Acuna, like it did last season when Betts finished

runner-up to Acuna.

Long Shot With A Shot

Francisco Lindor, New York Mets (+2800)

While the Mets had a disastrous 2023 season, shortstop Francisco Lindor was still able to put

up decent numbers and finished 9th in MVP voting. 31 home runs, 98 RBI on a team that

struggled all season long. He remains one of the best players in the league and at this price,

you can’t go wrong especially if New York finds a way to rebound and contend for a playoff spot

Odds For NL MVP

Ronald Acuna Jr. +375

Shohei Ohtani +500

Mookie Betts +675

Fernando Tatis Jr. +900

Freddie Freeman +1000

Bryce Harper +1200

Matt Olson +1400

Austin Riley +1600

Corbin Carroll +2000

Trea Turner +2200

Pete Alonso +2500

Manny Machado +2800

Francisco Lindor +2800

With Shohei Ohtani moving over to the National League the race for MVP is essentially down to a three-horse field….

[136
149
post-24740","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-mlb","tag-mlb
["GET
