With just over two months until the Run for the Roses, the chase continues for the 20 entries to<\/p>\n\n\n\n

vie for the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby. With more than a dozen prep races to go some<\/p>\n\n\n\n

have already locked up a spot in Louisville while others are still looking to earn enough points to<\/p>\n\n\n\n

qualify. There are dozens of horses still in contention so if you\u2019re looking for value, now may be<\/p>\n\n\n\n

the time to find a pick in the big race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sierra Leone (+600)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sierra Leone was impressive coming from far back over a sloppy track to win the Grade II Risen<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Star Stakes at Fair Grounds essentially assuring him a start in the Derby and moving him to the<\/p>\n\n\n\n

early favorite in Kentucky. The Gun Runner colt was able to catch Track Phantom and win by<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1\/2 length. It was his second win in three lifetime starts. His next start could likely come on the<\/p>\n\n\n\n

first Saturday in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fierceness (+1200)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Breeders Cup Juvenile champion was considered the early favorite at the start of the year<\/p>\n\n\n\n

but faded to third as the overwhelming chalk in the Holy Bull. It was a baffling performance<\/p>\n\n\n\n

considering all the hype. But Hades, who was undefeated in his previous two starts, took the<\/p>\n\n\n\n

lead right out of the gate and didn\u2019t look back. Still, Fierceness has the pedigree and now must<\/p>\n\n\n\n

rebound in one of the other prep races to be assured entry in the Derby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Timberlake (+1200)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While music icon Justin Timberlake may not be at the Derby, Timberlake, the thoroughbred<\/p>\n\n\n\n

likely will. The 3-year old all but punched his ticket to Kentucky with a two-length win in the<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rebel Stakes(G2) at Oaklawn Park. Trained by Brad Cox, Timberlake now has 3 wins from six<\/p>\n\n\n\n

starts. His team said there was lots to like including being able to relax behind horses,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

something he\u2019ll face in the 20-horse field at Churchill Downs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leaning on Longshots<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The one thing for certain in the Derby is every horse has a shot to win. We\u2019ve seen it over the<\/p>\n\n\n\n

last 5 years where we\u2019ve seen a 15-1, 30-1 and Rich Strike at 80-1 capture the most prestigious<\/p>\n\n\n\n

race in North America. With dozens of options it may be best to jump on a horse right now or<\/p>\n\n\n\n

wait it out until May 4th. Guarantee a good price now rather than see the odds drop as more<\/p>\n\n\n\n

horses continue to qualify for the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
