While there have been some jaw-dropping defensive plays during Summer League, in large part, there isn’t a lot of defense being played in Vegas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No rookie has ever taken home NBA Defensive Player of the Year honors, and we certainly don’t expect that to happen for the 2025-26 season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Victor Wembanyama came very close his rookie campaign, finishing second, and he was a massive favorite for DPOY last season before his blood clot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wemby is back in the favorite position for the 2025-26 season. In fact, for the second straight year he’s the odds-on favorite, with the next-closest competitor (Chet Holmgren) listed at 8\/1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
