What kind of return timelines are teams looking at, and what can we expect from updates to Injured Lists? Let’s take a look around the leagues to find out.

NEW YORK YANKEES: STANTON AND JUDGE

The Yankees have been playing without two of their star sluggers, who also happen to make up two thirds of their starting outfield, making for significant strain on both offence and defence. That’s set to change soon, as both players are reportedly gearing up to come off the IL in the next few days.

Stanton originally went down with a biceps strain, before having his stint extended due to muscle tightness in his left calf, along with a shoulder strain. He’s currently finishing up a rehab assignment in Triple-A Scranton, and is tentatively set to return in time for the Yankees next homestand, which kicks off June 17.

Aaron Judge has been out now for nearly two months, since April 20th, on account of a left oblique strain. He’s been working out and taking reps, and according to manager Aaron Boone, could also be ready to go, along with Stanton, for the upcoming 10-game homestand.

HOUSTON ASTROS: ALTUVE AND CORREA

Meanwhile in Houston, the Astros are missing their middle infielder tandem, 2B Jose Altuve and SS Carlos Correa. It’s a major blow to the Astros, as these guys back up their fielding talent with some serious offensive production.

The timeline for Altuve’s return is unknown after going on the IL with a left hamstring strain. He’s been showing signs of progress, returning to limited on-field workouts. Reportedly, he’s been feeling better, but fans and bettors should manage expectations until the Astros provide an official timetable update.

As for Correa, he’s out for at least 4-6 weeks, resulting from a cracked rib sustained outside of baseball. According to reports, he hasn’t resumed any baseball activities at this point, and we shouldn’t expect to see him back until mid-to-late July at best. We’ll see how long the Astros’ dominant play will continue without these two all-stars.

LOS ANGELES DODGERS: COREY SEAGER

SS Corey Seager has landed on the 10-day IL after suffering a left hamstring strain while running bases this past Tuesday. He’s expected to miss about a month. Seager has been a very productive player for the Dodgers, and he’ll no doubt be missed. But the Dodgers have plenty of weapons, and can be expected to continue to dominate in the National League.

TEXAS RANGERS: JOEY GALLO

Prior to injuring his left oblique two weeks ago, Joey Gallo had not missed two consecutive games during the 2019 season. If fact, this is Gallo’s first ever stint on the injured list in his major league career. Reports have him day-to-day, and there is no official timetable for his return. Gallo is arguably one of the most consequential players on the IL right now, with 41 runs, 17 HRs, and 41 RBIs on the season. The Rangers owe a lot of their success this season to Gallo, and they’ll be eagerly awaiting his return.

Who’s losing impact players, and who’s getting impact players back?
