Just take a look at the Super Bowl futures odds where only two teams are at single digit odds–New England is +750 and Kansas City is +800. Only eight teams are priced lower than +2000. In the past twenty years, there have been 12 different teams to win the Super Bowl and only two back to back winners. There very well could be a new winner this year and at the same time New England has a chance to win back to back.

The odds to win the conference championship show a similar amount of parity as the Super Bowl odds. In the AFC, the co-favorites are the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots at +400. In the NFC, the New Orleans Saints are a +500 favorite right ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles at +650. Yesterday, we went down the betting board in search of some value on AFC Conference Championship futures. This time we’ll look at the NFC futures odds and try to find some value plays.

NFC CHAMPIONSHIP FUTURES BETTING VALUE PLAYS

The biggest difference between professional and recreational sports bettors is how they approach the activitity on a conceptual level. The recreational player will say that the name of the game is ‘picking winners’. The professional, meanwhile, understands that the true goal is to ‘find value’. If you consistently find value the wins will take care of themselves. That’s the mindset we’ll approach the NFC Championship futures with and in all cases I’m of the opinion that the team’s ‘true odds’ of winning are less than the ‘implied odds’ of their moneyline price.

DALLAS COWBOYS +1400

Not really sure why the marketplace has so little love for Dallas. After all, they are ‘America’s Team’. Seriously though–there’s a lot to like about the Cowboys. The defense is solid and finished last year ranked #6 in scoring defense and #7 in total defense. They also had the #5 run defense. Now that Ezekiel Elliott has been signed he’ll be there to carry the ball–he’s averaged 131+ yards per game for his brief career. The Cowboys do have a bit of history working against them–the last time a division winner repeated in the NFC East was 2004 when the Philadelphia Eagles won the division for the fourth consecutive year. Forget about the logo on the helmet–you’re getting a solid team on both sides of the ball here.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS +1600

The Seahawks have Russell Wilson and there’s good reason to expect the defense to improve with Jadeveon Clowney now in the Jet City. The loss of Frank Clark and Doug Baldwin are an issue and the hope is that the young receivers that the Seahawks picked up in the draft can help mitigate the loss. They’re also hoping that first-round pick L.J. Collier can ease the burden of Clark’s departure. Pete Carroll doesn’t get the credit he deserves as a NFL head coach. All he’s done is won a Super Bowl, made the playoffs 7 times in his 9 season and won games at a .620 clip. If the Rams take a step back this year Seattle has the best shot at winning the division.

CAROLINA PANTHERS +2000

Of any team in the NFC South the Panthers have the best chance at keeping pace with New Orleans. The Panthers improved both their offensive and defensive line in the offseason. So far, Cam Newton looks to be 100% again and if he can stay healthy the Panthers are dangerous. Even with Newton hurt last year the Panthers were still the #4 rushing yards per game team in the league. Christian McCaffrey could be the most underrated player in the league.

Get the latest NFL football odds and information–follow BetOnline.ag on Twitter!

Yesterday we talked about how the NFL loves parity and that the field is wide open this year.
