The run up to Week 2 of the 2019 NFL season is underway. In addition to the usual NFL football betting<\/a> options, BetOnline.ag has posted some ‘Weekly Special’ prop bets covering topics for the upcoming weekend’s games and the entire 2019 season. We hit some of the Week 2 NFL prop bets<\/a> in a previous post and now we’ll take a look at some more:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NFL WEEKLY SPECIAL PROP BETTING ODDS<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

WILL DOLPHINS HAVE FIRST PICK 2020 DRAFT?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

This question is a derivative of the ‘Team to Have Worst Record’ prop bet posted prior to the start of the season. There is an added component in that if the Dolphins end up with the worst record in the league but trade their first round draft pick this wager would presumably be graded a loss. Realistically speaking, it’s hard to see how the Dolphins *don’t* end up with the worst record in the league. Brian Flores came over from New England to serve as their head coach and the understanding heading into the season was that 2019 would be a ‘house cleaning’ year. They’ve already jettisoned a number of veteran players from the roster and are clearly looking to ‘build from scratch’. In the process, they’re hoping to get a high draft pick. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are other bad teams in the league that could give the Dolphins some ‘competition’ for the worst record but none of these teams are in the ‘salt the earth’ rebuild mode that Miami is in. In addition, Miami has a pretty nasty schedule and there just aren’t a lot of obvious wins to be found. They play home and home against the Jets, home against Cincinnati and at the New York Giants. Even if they split these games (and that’s not a given) they’ll end up 2-14 which should be enough for the first pick in the draft. As far as the potential they could trade the top pick that’s unlikely. Even with the top pick it’s not easy to get equal value for trading away the draft pick. It would almost certainly be an unpopular move with the Miami fanbase and they’re going to endure enough as the team cleans up the mess left by Adam Gase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BET WILL DOLPHINS HAVE 1ST PICK 2020 DRAFT?–YES -115<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

GARDNER MINSHEW PASSING YARDS WEEK 2<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

For the immediate future, rookie Gardner Minshew is the starting quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was very sharp in his first live NFL action coming in after starter Nick Foles left late in the first quarter with a broken collarbone. In three quarters and change he’d amass 275 yards on 22 for 25 passing, 2 touchdowns and only 1 interception. There’s no reason he can’t improve on those numbers over a full four quarters this week. He faced the porous Kansas City pass defense last week–the Chiefs finished #31 in passing yards against per game in 2018 (273.4) and he steps up in class only slightly this week. The Houston Texans had the #28 pass defense in 2018 giving up an average of 260 yards per game. There’s not much to suggest that they’ve improved in 2019. Minshew will be on the road for his second start but in a way that could take some of the ‘pressure’ off playing in front of his home town fans. He doesn’t need to be spectacular to cash this bet. He doesn’t even need to match the Texans ‘average passing yards against’ from 2018 to cash this bet. He just needs to be competent and there’s every reason to think he will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
