Meanwhile, the Washington Redskins looked excellent for one half – jumping out to a 17-0 lead on Philadelphia – before blowing the lead and game in the second half.

Can the Redskins put together a more complete effort and compete with the Cowboys in Week 2?

DALLAS COWBOYS AT WASHINGTON REDSKINS
NFL ODDS: COWBOYS -4.5
NFL TOTAL: 46.5

WHY THE COWBOYS WILL COVER THE SPREAD

Do more of what they did in the opener. Dak Prescott versus Case Keenum is the quarterback matchup, Ezekiel Elliott versus Adrian Peterson is the running back matchup and Amari Cooper and the Dallas receivers are a lot better than the Washington receivers. It is hard to look at the 11 offensive starters for both teams and conclude that Washington has an advantage at more than one or two positions.

Dallas might be on the road in this spot but they have a lot more margin for error. Prescott had a perfect passer rating in Week 1 against the Giants and Elliott, who signed before the season began, totaled 63 yards and a touchdown. This week is all about doing more of the same while letting the Redskins self-destruct.

WHY THE REDSKINS WILL COVER THE SPREAD

The Redskins will try to reverse their fortunes from Week 1, when they blew a 17-0 lead against the Eagles. It is easy to be very negative on the Redskins in this game, but one thing people have to realize is that Week 1 of the NFL regular season is a very fragile and uncertain time. The Colts almost beat the Chargers without Andrew Luck. The Bengals almost won in Seattle against the Seahawks. The Browns getting crushed by the Titans was something a lot of people did not expect. The Cardinals fell behind by 18 points with a terrible offensive line and somehow rallied to tie the Detroit Lions. Lots of teams are in the midst of trying to find out what they have and what they can achieve. Don’t put too much stock in Week 1 results.

Washington is playing at home at they have enough to build off of from their first-half effort in Philadelphia. If they can come out, run the ball and be efficient with their passing game, they’ll have a shot.

TAKING A LOOK AT THE TOTAL

The Cowboys were great in Week 1, but they will probably have a harder time scoring in Week 2. The key to this game is the Cowboys’ deep passing game against the Redskins’ cornerbacks. If Dallas hits multiple deep balls, it can score 35 points and put this game over the total. If the Redskins contain the Dallas offense, this game will go under. With the Cowboys being on the road in this one, lean more to the under. Washington should be able to play better on defense than it did last week versus the Eagles.

PICK: COWBOYS 20, REDSKINS 10

Get the latest NFL football odds and information–follow BetOnline.ag on Twitter!

The Dallas Cowboys looked about as good as can be in their opening-game 35-17 rout of the New York Giants….

[129

post-6413","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl
["GET
