The Top Horse Pick of the Week for October 5 is in the Grade 1 $500K Breeders\u2019 Cup Futurity for two year-olds and can be seen live on NBCSN at 5:39 ET. This is part of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series and the winner of this race gets a berth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile.

The final stepping stone for next month\u2019s Breeders\u2019 Cup, six of these 10 runners are trying a two-turn distance for the first time. And while we think #1 Tap It to Win (3\/1) is the most likely winner, given the inside rail and his last race monster final figure, we\u2019ll look for a longshot to outrun his odds and blow up the tote board.

#9 January Man (20\/1) has two positive Form Cycle Patterns and closed a lot of ground in his last effort at the same distance. There looks to be a good amount of early speed in the race, setting it up for the rail skimming Tap It to Win and a late closer like January Man to storm by many of these tiring youngsters. We don\u2019t expect the odds to show it, but an improved run by #9 would not be surprising here.

For our money we\u2019ll play a 1-9 exacta and #9, January Man to win and place ($6 total for a $2 bettor).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
