The top six favorites have had relatively the same odds for the last month, and five of the top six have had odds of 10-1 or less since the preseason with LSU being the lone exception.

We did see a trend emerge this week though. Futures bettors are finding value in the Big Ten as the National Championship odds on Ohio State, Wisconsin, Penn State, and Michigan all dropped from where they were at last Friday, and the Badgers have received some real love. They moved from 33-1 to 20-1 to become the top team outside the six favorites.

ODDS TO WIN THE COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS

ALABAMA +275 (+250 ON 10/4)
CLEMSON +275 (+250 ON 10/4)
OHIO STATE +500 (+650 ON 10/4)
GEORGIA +700 (+650 ON 10/4)
LSU +700 (+800 ON 10/4)
OKLAHOMA +800 (+1000 ON 10/4)
WISCONSIN +2000 (+3300 ON 10/4)
PENN STATE +3300 (+4000 ON 10/4)
FLORIDA +3300 (+5000 ON 10/4)
AUBURN +4000 (+2500 ON 10/4)
MICHIGAN +4000 (+5000 ON 10/4)
UTAH +5000 (UNCHANGED)
TEXAS +5000 (+6600 ON 10/4)
NOTRE DAME +5000 (+6600 ON 10/4)
OREGON +5000 (+8000 ON 10/4)
TEXAS A&M +8000 (+10000 ON 10/4)
ALL OTHER TEAMS AT LEAST +10000

The Crimson Tide and Tigers remain the favorites, but neither team is expected to receive much of a test this week. Neither Texas A&M nor Florida State has much hope of knocking off either juggernaut, as while the Aggies and Seminoles are big names, their programs just aren’t at the point where they can knock off a powerhouse. Those will be seen as quality wins for both Alabama and Clemson though, so don’t expect to see a big shift on the NCAAF futures odds for either team next week.

Ohio State is now the third favorite to win the title. The Buckeyes have blasted all six of their opponents by at least 24 points, and they have the best statistical profile of any team in the country. Justin Fields has been excellent, the running game has been superb, and the defense has been phenomenal in Ryan Day’s first season as head coach. Ohio State is off this week, but the Buckeyes will receive a real test in two weeks when Wisconsin comes to Columbus.

Kirby Smart has recruited at an elite level since arriving in Athens, and all those blue-chip recruits have paid off immensely. Smart has yet to lead Georgia to a national championship, but one feels inevitable given the amount of talent on campus. This might not be the year though as the Bulldogs have been the least impressive team of the top six squads. A favorable schedule does give Georgia a boost though as the SEC East is not great.

LSU has been the biggest surprise this year. The Bayou Bengals are set to start a daunting stretch this week as the Florida Gators come to Baton Rouge, but the Tigers are surprisingly large favorites. The hosts are currently 13-point favorites on the college football betting line, as Florida is banged up and outmanned after last week’s win over Auburn. Joe Burrow will face the toughest secondary he has seen this season, but he has posted excellent numbers.

It’s simply rinse and repeat for Lincoln Riley at this point. Oklahoma has the best offense in the country for the third straight season, and the Sooners’ run game is producing insane numbers. Jalen Hurts has added another dimension to OU’s capabilities, but they key is whether this defense can finally improve. We’ll see how far along Alex Grinch is with the unit when Oklahoma faces Texas in the Red River Shootout this week.

Texas is a decent longshot to take at 50-1 given the unpredictable nature of its rivalry game with Oklahoma, but the best value lies in Penn State at 33-1. The Nittany Lions have an outstanding defense, and James Franklin has the offense humming once more. Penn State is about to embark on a tough three-game stretch that sees the Nittany Lions take on Iowa, Michigan, and Michigan State in three weeks, but running that gauntlet would lead to Penn State’s odds dropping dramatically.

Get the latest college football odds and information–follow BetOnline.ag on Twitter!

BetOnline.ag on Instagram–Follow for the latest odds, stats and information!

There haven’t been major changes to the CFP betting odds over the last week.
