Here are some of the top news items and what they mean.

PLAYERS RULED OUT

Players out Sunday include Cam Newton, A.J. Howard, Delanie Walker, Kerryon Johnson, Darius Slay, Sterling Shepard, Jared Cook, Tre’Quan Smith, Mike McGlinchey, Patrick Mahomes, Frank Clark, Chris Jones
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) October 27, 2019

The biggest injuries of the week are at quarterback. Matt Ryan was ruled out and Patrick Mahomes was not able to complete his miracle comeback, so Matt Schaub and Matt Moore will start for the Falcons and Chiefs, respectively. Schaub’s last start came with the Ravens in 2015. Moore’s was in 2017 with Miami.

Meanwhile, Cam Newton, DeSean Jackson and A.J. Green continue their extended absences. Kerryon Johnson and Will Fuller begin lengthy recoveries. Kansas City’s pass rush takes a hit with the loss of Frank Clark.

KEENAN ALLEN (LAC) A GAME-TIME DECISION, NOT OPTIMISTIC

Chargers’ WR Keenan Allen wants to test his hamstring pre-game Sunday before making any decisions about whether he can play against the Bears, but he was not optimistic this weekend that he will be able to go against Chicago, per source.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) October 27, 2019

Allen practiced normally on Wednesday but missed Thursday and Friday. That’s obviously not a good sign. Even if Allen is active, it’s unlikely he gets a full workload.

ALVIN KAMARA (NO) TO MISS SECOND STRAIGHT GAME

Saints’ RB Alvin Kamara, listed as questionable for Sunday vs the Cardinals due to an ankle injury, will not play, per source. But Kamara is expected back after New Orleans’ bye week next week, when the team hosts Atlanta on Nov. 10, per sources.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) October 27, 2019

Kamara returned to limited practice but it won’t be enough to get him back in uniform this week. Latavius Murray should take over this backfield again, though the Saints may have a more pass-centric approach with the return of Drew Brees. As Schefter notes, Kamara should be back after next week’s bye.

DAVID JOHNSON (ARI) WILL BE INACTIVE

Cardinals RB David Johnson won’t play Sunday against the Saints due to his ankle injury, per source. Johnson is expected to miss Sunday vs. Saints and Thursday night’s game against the San Francisco 49ers, per source.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) October 27, 2019

It has been a while since we had a clear picture regarding Johnson’s health entering the weekend. Though Johnson managed to play last week (albeit very briefly) his injuries finally caught up to him. Chase Edmonds is expected to handle most of Johnson’s duties, both today and Thursday night against the 49ers.

DAVANTE ADAMS (GB) TO MISS FOURTH STRAIGHT GAME

Packers’ WR Davante Adams, listed as doubtful for Sunday night vs. the Chiefs due to turf toe, is not expected to play, per sources. He scored a touchdown in each of his four games and, despite missing Oakland’s last two, he still leads their wide receiver corps in receptions, yards and touchdowns. The Raiders have mostly relied on tight ends Darren Waller and Foster Moreau in Williams’ absence.

DEDE WESTBROOK (JAX) SHOULD PLAY

Jaguars’ WR Dede Westbrook, listed as questionable for Sunday with shoulder and neck injuries, is expected to play vs Jets, per source.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) October 27, 2019

Like last week, Westbrook entered the weekend questionable but is expected to be available. That’s great news for the Oakland offense considering how involved he’s been. He’s 11th in the league in touches per game and gets the ball on 53 percent of his snaps.

Get the latest NFL football odds and information–follow BetOnline.ag on Twitter!

BetOnline.ag on Instagram–Follow for the latest odds, stats and information!

Every Sunday morning, the NFL’s national reporters unload injury news and other tidbits to inform our gambling decisions.
