Here are some of the
top news items and what they mean.

PLAYERS RULED OUT

Players out for Sunday include Will Fuller, Bradley Roby, Cam Newton, Delanie Walker, Jurrell Casey, Case Keenum, Vernon Davis, Chris Thompson, TY Hilton, Nigel Bradham, Jason Peters, Damarious Randall, Ja’Wuan James, Jeff Heuerman, Tra Carson, CJ Mosley, OJ Howard, Josh Gordon.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) November 3, 2019

The only moderate surprise is Hilton, though he was actually ruled out a couple of days ago. The midweek calf injury he suffered will keep him out for several weeks.

Tra Carson, Detroit’s surprise Week 8 starter at running back, went on IR Saturday with a hamstring injury.

Josh Gordon, who the Seahawks claimed off waivers, will not make his debut this week. He could appear in next week’s Monday night showdown with San Francisco or possibly after Seattle’s bye the following week.

DAVANTE ADAMS (GB) COULD BE READY TO RETURN

The #Packers head into Sunday with optimism that star WR Davante Adams (toe) can return to the field, sources say. They’ll likely put him through a workout to test it, but they are planning as if Adams will be back for the first time since Sept. 26.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) November 3, 2019

Adams is looking to avoid missing his fifth straight game. As Rapoport notes, Adams will have to test his injured toe in warmups to make sure he’s ready. The opposing Chargers allow the sixth-fewest passing yards per game and Adams may draw shadow coverage from former Packer Casey Hayward.

PHILADELPHIA EXPECTS RETURN OF DESEAN JACKSON, MILES SANDERS AND DARREN SPROLES

Eagles’ WR DeSean Jackson, listed as questionable with an abdomen injury, is expected to play Sunday vs. the Bears, per source. He left
Philadelphia’s second game without a catch and we haven’t seen
him since. The return of Carson Wentz’s best deep threat should
help the entire offense.

Sanders
left Week 8 early with a shoulder injury, but he was already back at
practice on Thursday. He’s not listed on the injury report and
should be fine.

The
veteran Sproles missed three games with a quad issue. There was some optimism that he wouldn’t
miss any time, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. It’s
especially troubling that the Steelers are already worried about next
week as well.

With
Benny Snell also injured, Jaylen Samuels is set to be Pittsburgh’s
top running back against Indianapolis. Samuels was solid relieving
Conner last year, with his best performance coming in a 17-10 win
over New England that saw him pick up 172 yards from scrimmage.

ADAM THIELEN (MIN) EXPECTED TO PLAY

Vikings’ WR Adam Thielen, listed as questionable for Sunday with a hamstring injury, is expected to play against the Chiefs, per source.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) November 3, 2019

Thielen’s
hamstring injury kept him out of Minnesota’s Week 8 Thursday night
win over the Redskins. Baltimore’s
remaining receivers (Miles Boykin, Seth Roberts, Chris Moore, Willie
Snead) totaled 156 yards. Nearly a third of those yards went to
Boykin on one play in Seattle.

Smith
will make his first appearance since Baltimore’s huge Week 1 win
over Miami.
