Joe Burrow had another magnificent outing to lead the LSU Tigers to their first win over the Alabama Crimson Tide since 2011. Burrow was the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy last week with odds of -120 to win the award, but his performance against the Crimson Tide has led to his Heisman Trophy odds dropping to -550. It’s certainly Burrow’s trophy to lose at this point, and he would likely need to have two or more poor performances that ended in LSU losses to not win the Heisman Trophy at this point.

ODDS TO WIN 2019 HEISMAN TROPHY

JOE BURROW -550
JALEN HURTS +1000
TUA TAGOVAILOA +1000
JUSTIN FIELDS +1000

Burrow has a
better body of work than any player in college football this season.
He has led the Bayou Bengals to four wins over top ten teams thus far
in 2019, and he has shined in each game. Burrow is on pace to set the
single season completion percentage record, and he silenced any
remaining doubters with his performance against Alabama on Saturday
night. The senior quarterback completed 31 of 39 passes for 393 yards
with three touchdowns while also running for 64 yards.

LSU’s final
three games of the season are against Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Texas
A&M. The Tigers are three-touchdown favorites per the college
football betting odds against the Rebels this weekend,
but Ole Miss does have an above average defense. The same can be said
for Texas A&M too, but Arkansas is one of the worst teams we have
seen in this conference in quite some time. Burrow is unlikely to
have the cataclysmic game he would need to lose the award against any
of those three teams, but Georgia does loom in the SEC Championship
Game.

The Bulldogs have
one of the best defenses in the country, and they will certainly give
LSU a test provided they make it to Atlanta in December. Provided
Georgia wins one of its last two games, the Bulldogs will win the SEC
East, but they do face Auburn and Texas A&M. Neither of those
games will be easy, but if they happen to lose both, that likely
seals the deal for Burrow as he should carve up Florida through the
air just as he did with the Gators earlier this season.

Jalen Hurts has
been a treat to watch this season. Hurts has been fantastic for
Oklahoma, making the Sooners the best offense in football with his
lethal mix of running and passing. He is responsible for over 400
yards per game through the air and on the ground, and he has created
39 touchdowns this season.

Unfortunately for
Hurts, there is fatigue surrounding Oklahoma quarterbacks, and the
Sooners have done him no favors with their play either. Oklahoma’s
stunning loss to Kansas State a few weeks ago hurt his chances, and
the school nearly lost to Iowa State last weekend as well. A
fantastic performance against undefeated Baylor this week could lead
to Hurts having the second-best odds
to win the Heisman Trophy next week, so there might be
some value in him at this price.

Tua Tagovailoa
and Alabama lost at home to LSU last week, and the Crimson Tide did
nothing on offense through the first 40 minutes of that game. They
roared back to make it competitive in the final 20 minutes, but
Alabama’s loss has effectively eliminated Tagovailoa from
contention. Tagovailoa has been the September Heisman for two years
in a row, so it’s unfortunate to see him likely leave Tuscaloosa
without becoming the first quarterback in Alabama history to win the
trophy. However, he can take solace in the fact that he is the
favorite
to be the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft per the NFL
Draft betting odds.

There is still some value in Justin Fields at 10-1. Ohio State obliterated Maryland last week to continue its rampage through the Big Ten, and the Buckeyes are favored by a record 50 points per the NCAA betting odds against Rutgers this week. Fields is unlikely to put up monster numbers against the Scarlet Knights since Ryan Day is conserving his young quarterback, but he could make a late charge provided he plays well in potential victories over Penn State and Michigan.

Burrow has a
better body of work than any player in college football this season.
He has led the Bayou Bengals to four wins over top ten teams thus far
in 2019, and he has shined in each game.
