The Georgia Bulldogs are the best one-loss team in the country according to the Selection Committee. Georgia was ranked No. 4 in the College Football Playoff rankings for the second straight week, and the Bulldogs have clinched the SEC East to guarantee a spot in the SEC Championship Game. If they win out, there\u2019s no doubt they will make it back to the CFP, but Georgia has a tricky test this weekend when they host the Texas A&M Aggies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This line has been static since it opened on Sunday night. However, the total has dropped by two points from where it was when the opening college football betting odds<\/a> were released. This is one of the lowest totals on the board in Week 13 as both these defenses are among the best in the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These teams have not met since Texas A&M joined the SEC earlier this decade. Their last meeting came 10 years ago in Shreveport when Georgia hammered Texas A&M 44-20 in the Independence Bowl. Virtually everything has changed with both programs since then, and in an interesting note, although these teams have played five times, they have never played in College Station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Bulldogs want to keep the chains moving on the ground against the Aggies, just like they have wanted to do against every opponent throughout the season. Georgia has some of the most talented running backs in the SEC, and this offensive line is loaded with NFL talent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n There were questions about the offensive line through the first half of the season, but they started to turn it on in their win over Florida. Georgia has run for over 2,000 yards and 18 touchdowns as a team, averaging 5.4 YPC in the conference with the best defenses in the nation by a mile. <\/p>\n\n\n\n That running game is why this offense is rated 22nd<\/sup> in the country per SP+. Jake Fromm has been much shakier than he was in previous seasons, averaging 7.5 YPA compared to the 9.0 YPA he averaged in 2017 and 2018, and he has completed under 47 percent of his passes in Georgia\u2019s last two games. Georgia still covered the college football betting odds<\/a> in both games, but that was due to its superb defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Fromm only has one elite receiver in Lawrence Cager, but Cager isn\u2019t at 100 percent after hurting his shoulder again in Georgia\u2019s win over Auburn last week. That will limit the options Fromm has available, and the Bulldogs offense might not find much success as a result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Texas A&M\u2019s defense is rated 22nd in SP+, and the Aggies have been much better against the pass than they have against the run. However, defensive coordinator Mike Elko has probably been scheming for Georgia for a few weeks now. The Aggies last two games were against UTSA and injury depleted South Carolina, so they weren\u2019t in real danger of losing either game, giving Elko time to prepare something new for Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jimbo Fisher has been reticent to ask his quarterbacks to run in the past, but he has realized he needs to evolve in order to succeed in the modern era. That has made the Aggies\u2019 offense better than it was in his first season in College Station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kellen Mond is the Aggies\u2019 second leading rusher this season. If you take out sack yardage, he is averaging 7.4 YPC, and the Bulldogs have yet to deal with a quarterback that can run the ball like Mond this season. He has been an above average passer too, completing 64 percent of his passes while averaging 7.4 YPA with 18 touchdowns and six interceptions, and his numbers against Top 25 teams aren\u2019t bad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jhamon Ausbon is Mond\u2019s favorite target, and Jalen Wydermyer is a major threat in the red zone. Georgia has excellent defensive backs though, so these two will struggle to get open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Bulldogs have the second-best defense in the nation, and they have shut down every opponent they have faced this year. Texas A&M is unlikely to have much success running against this team, but the Aggies are still a great bet to cover the betting line<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Texas A&M is a live dog. The Aggies are currently +405 on the moneyline<\/a>, and they stand a better chance to beat Georgia than the oddsmakers believe. Fisher is out to pick up his first big win since taking over the program, and he is great in situations like this. He will come up with a game plan to run clock and keep the ball out of Georgia\u2019s hands, giving his team the best chance to win.
