The LSU Tigers are atop the College Football Playoff rankings for the second straight week. LSU has four wins over top ten teams, and the Bayou Bengals can afford a loss more than any of the three remaining undefeated teams. Of course, the Tigers aren\u2019t trying to lose, and it\u2019s unlikely they drop one of their last two regular season games. LSU is favored by a whopping 43.5 points per the college football betting odds<\/a> against Arkansas this week, and the Tigers should be favored by double digits against Texas A&M in their season finale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the largest spread in an SEC game in over four decades. While LSU is one of the best teams in the nation, Arkansas is one of the worst teams in conference history. That led to the initial college football betting line<\/a> coming out at LSU -46, but that line has since been bet down as money has come in on the Razorbacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RECENT HISTORY<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

LSU has won the last three games in this series, but the Tigers were only able to squeak out a 24-17 win in Fayetteville last year. If Arkansas kept it that close this season, that would be cause for celebration as the Razorbacks have lost their last four games by a combined 138 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WHEN ARKANSAS HAS THE BALL<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Barry Lunney Jr. is the new coach of Arkansas after the program decided to part ways with Chad Morris following a 45-19 loss to Western Kentucky. Lunney is a former quarterback for the Razorbacks and has been an assistant with Arkansas for seven years, so he is the perfect choice to see out the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He will look to do what Morris couldn\u2019t with this offense. Arkansas\u2019 offense is ranked just inside the top 100 in SP+, and the passing game has been nonexistent. Nick Starkel and Ben Hicks have both struggled at quarterback, and that has led to seven different Razorbacks throwing a pass for the team. The Razorbacks have completed 51.1 percent of their passes for 5.9 YPA with 11 touchdowns and 15 interceptions this year, so it doesn\u2019t matter who is taking the snaps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a shame that the passing game has been so abysmal because running back Rakeem Boyd has had an excellent year. He surpassed 1,000 yards on the season in the loss to Western Kentucky, and he has broken a run of 50 yards or more in three of his last five games. Boyd is averaging 6.7 YPC with eight rushing touchdowns on the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LSU\u2019s defense was gashed on the ground by Ole Miss last week so expect a heavy dose of the run from Arkansas. The Rebels ran for 402 yards and four touchdowns in earning the cover per the college football betting odds<\/a> against the Tigers, and Lunney will want to pound the rock with Boyd. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

WHEN LSU HAS THE BALL<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Bayou Bengals have the Heisman Trophy favorite<\/a> leading them, and that has made this offense one of the best in the nation. Joe Burrow is a massive favorite to become the first quarterback in school history to win the award, and he has shined with the spotlight on him. Burrow is on pace to set the NCAA single season completion percentage record, and he has already broken most of LSU\u2019s single season passing records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jamarr Chase and Justin Jefferson are both over 1,000 yards on the year and will be playing on Sundays in the near future, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire has more than 1,000 yards from scrimmage as well. This LSU offense is ranked second in the nation per SP+, and it\u2019s hard to see Arkansas stopping them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LSU can name the score if it wants to in this game. Arkansas doesn\u2019t have the talent on defense to contend with the Tigers, and LSU has elite options at all the skill positions. Joe Brady has made a lot of money for himself in the offseason by revamping this offense, as the Tigers have finally solved their offensive woes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PREDICTION<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Tigers are going to have a hard time covering the spread. LSU doesn\u2019t have much to prove, and Ed Orgeron just wants his team to get the win at this point of the season. Arkansas has a great chance of keeping this one within the number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
