If anyone was to go winless this season, it was supposed to be the Miami Dolphins. However, the Cincinnati Bengals are entering the month of December without having won a single NFL game this season. They are 0-11 and have five chances left to grab a win. Will they go down in the record books as the latest 0-16 team or will they break through? Let\u2019s take a look at their remaining five games:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bengals\u2019 decision to reinsert Andy Dalton into the lineup as the starting quarterback is being done for a very obvious reason: to win a game. The Bengals know that the Washington Redskins, New York Giants and Miami Dolphins all have two wins. This means the Bengals can win one game and still keep the No. 1 pick for the 2020 NFL Draft. The Bengals want the top pick but not an 0-16 record. If they finish 1-15, they will get both. If they win two games, they might lose the top pick, but that\u2019s not what this betting proposition deals with. As long as the Bengals win once, they will give \u201cYes\u201d players a betting win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This game against the Jets is important for Cincinnati in that if Dalton leads the team to a victory, he would probably rest for the remainder of the season. The organization would like to win as soon as possible and then get another look at backup quarterback Ryan Finley. There is a decent chance the Bengals will win this game \u2013 not great, and not better than 50-50, but a reasonable chance. They\u2019re merely a three-point dog in this spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Browns have played really well at home of late, beating the Bills, Steelers and Dolphins in consecutive weeks. Baker Mayfield has begun to play better, and the Browns are making a late-season push similar to what they did a year ago. This is not a likely win for the Bengals, even with Dalton in the lineup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The chances of the Bengals beating the defending Super Bowl champions in late December are very remote, and there really doesn\u2019t have to be a long discussion about the matter. Don\u2019t expect any surprises here \u2013 especially with the Patriots needing the win to maintain home-field advantage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If the Bengals don\u2019t beat the Jets, this is where they have an especially good chance of breaking the donut and getting one win. Remember that the Dolphins are in the hunt for the No. 2 pick behind Cincinnati. The Washington Redskins\u2019 victory over the Detroit Lions moved them down to No. 3. They defeated the Dolphins earlier this season, so Miami is No. 2. (Miami plays the Giants, who are No. 4 right now on the draft board, on Dec. 15.) Miami would actually have incentive to play its backups and not try to win too hard. The Dolphins, by losing to the Bengals, could cement their No. 2 status and make sure that if Joe Burrow or Chase Young is off the draft board, the Dolphins could get the other guy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bengals get the Browns at home. If they are 0-15, they will go all-out to win, but the improvements of the Browns in recent weeks might prevent the Bengals from winning. Also, the Browns have an easy schedule up until (and including) this point, so they could realistically be on a long winning streak entering this spot. It\u2019s possible the Bengals surprise in Week 17 against a rival but they\u2019ll be a big dog here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
