Beckham Jr. has not been the impact player that the Browns thought they’d be getting when they traded for him in the offseason and recent reports suggest that Beckham Jr. is unhappy in Cleveland and wants. BetOnline has posted a prop on Beckham Jr.’s 2020 Cleveland Browns odds but will he back with the team or will he be gone?

THE CASE FOR HIM TO BE BACK
ODDS: -300

The case for Beckham Jr. to be back has to do with the fact that he has a contract with the Browns and the team has plenty of leverage. If they don’t want to trade him, they don’t have to – even if he demands it.

Logically, though, it doesn’t make a lot of sense for the Browns to trade him at this point. Beckham Jr. has had a terrible season with just two 100-yard games and two touchdowns. His seven-week drought without a 100-yard receiving game is the longest in his career. The Browns could move on from him but they’re not going to get the bounty that they had to give up for him just a year ago. Do they really want to sell for 50 cents on the dollar?

The other factor here is that head coach Freddie Kitchens is likely to be fired at the end of the season. If that’s the case, that likely wipes the slate clean for this team and offense, and at that point, Beckham Jr. probably gives this team another shot. A new head coach will work with Beckham Jr. and Baker Mayfield to get them on the same page and at that point, it probably hits the reset button on this whole situation.

If the Browns go down that route, Beckham Jr. is quite likely to give this situation another try and stick with the team.

THE CASE FOR HIM TO BE ELSEWHERE
ODDS: +200

The case for him to be elsewhere – via trade or any other fashion – is quite simple: he doesn’t want to be in Cleveland. A lot of people might say that the Browns have all of the leverage and that OBJ is under contract, but remember that the New York Giants had this type of leverage too and decided to move on from him. Beckham Jr.’s behavior here is the key to what happens; not what the Browns want.

Do the Browns want to trade him at a low point? Of course not. At the same time, if Beckham Jr. goes from privately whispering that he wants out of Cleveland to publicly stating it, the situation changes drastically. He could threaten not to show up for offseason work and then training camp, and then holdout into the season too. The Browns are trying to turn their franchise around, so the last thing they’d want is to have a massive distraction on their hands. He would also take up a chunk of the salary cap space and the Browns could use that money more effectively.

And let’s face it: the Browns are not a good team with Beckham Jr. right now. He hasn’t had a major impact on the season as he’s on pace for just 1038 yards. Maybe the team won’t be much worse off without him? When you consider those factors, that’s the path for Beckham Jr. to get his wish and find himself on another team next season.

Get the latest NFL football odds and information–follow BetOnline.ag on Twitter!

BetOnline.ag on Instagram–Follow for the latest odds, stats and information!

The Cleveland Browns and Odell Beckham Jr. look like they’re engaged in a marriage that is not set to last….

[129

post-8017","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl
["GET
