The eight teams left in the NFL Playoffs, which will compete this weekend in the divisional round, consist of five division champions and three wild card teams. Three division champions were beaten in the wild card round, meaning that the wild cards are doing more than holding their own. If any of the three wild card teams can make a run to the Super Bowl, the Tennessee Titans have by far the longest odds. The Titans\u2019 offense did not look good against the New England Patriots, but somehow won, 14-13, because the Patriots\u2019 offense was very impotent and made some significant mistakes in the second half. The Titans now need to go through the best team in the NFL during the regular season, the Baltimore Ravens, and they have to do so on the road against a rested team with the league MVP, Lamar Jackson, and 11 other Pro Bowl players. The matchup with Baltimore is terrible and the Titans will have to play amazingly well to somehow survive. If they can get through that matchup, they will have to play another road game, most likely against the high-powered Kansas City Chiefs in Arrowhead Stadium. The Titans just beat New England but we know that this was not the typical caliber Patriots team. Don\u2019t expect a huge run here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Vikings are an intriguing team. They looked terrible in late December when they lost to the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears, but they bounced back in a big way to beat the 13-3 New Orleans Saints on the road in the Superdome this past weekend. Minnesota played very tough defense and the offensive line held up well after struggling in previous games. Most of all, the Vikings received a solid, competent performance from quarterback Kirk Cousins, who made clutch throws and played the way the Vikings always hoped he would play in big games. It is not likely that Cousins will continue to play at a high level against the San Francisco 49ers this upcoming Saturday, but if Cousins can remain on top of his game as he was against the Saints, this becomes a very different team which can compete with anyone in the NFC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is a tough team to count out, but the Seahawks are also a tough team to trust. Seattle plays virtually every game close as they don\u2019t win by large margins, and they regularly play close games for better or worse. The big concern with the Seahawks is their banged-up offensive line. Their best lineman, Duane Brown, is questionable for the upcoming divisional playoff game against the Green Bay Packers. Their road to the Super Bowl has to go through Green Bay, but the bigger question is if San Francisco beats Minnesota, winning three straight road games, and having to beat San Francisco in the NFC title game, will be very hard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
If, however, the Vikings can upset the 49ers, Seattle \u2013 should it beat Green Bay \u2013 would host the NFC Championship Game. And if they do have to make do on the road, keep in mind they\u2019ve won eight of their nine road games this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
