Now, the search begins again for a New York side that is absolutely desperate for some stability from one of the most important roles within the organization. So who will be the next bench boss for one of the most perplexing franchises in all of baseball? Here is a look at the best bets to become the Mets next manager.

EDUARDO PEREZ
ODDS: +300

As it stands right now, Perez is the slight favorite to become the Mets next manager. Ironically, Perez hasn’t worked in the MLB since he left his position as the bench coach in Houston all the way back in 2013. Aaron Boone’s success has sparked plenty of speculation about who will be next when it comes to a member of the media jumping back in to the game. He went from ESPN to being a quality manager of the Yankees so maybe Perez can do the same. Considering Perez was the runner-up in the initial hiring process when Beltran got the job instead, it makes sense for him to be among the favorites now. A former player and coach with ties to this team, it would make a lot of sense if they go in this direction.

LUIS ROJAS
ODDS: +325

One name that not so many people are familiar with is Luis Rojas, who makes a lot of sense here based on his ties to the club. Rojas was not only a member of last season’s coaching staff (quality control coach), he also spent eight seasons as the franchise’s minor league manager. He knows the players well and they know him well too.

The challenge is that he’s just 38 years old with just one year of Majors experience under his belt. Is he actually ready for this type of jump – especially into the pressure cooker that is New York?

HENSLEY MEULENS
ODDS: +350

While Buck Showalter is an intriguing option at +900 odds, along with John Gibbons at +1000, the better fit might be Meulens, who served as Bruce Bochy’s bench coach. Beltran hired Meulens to be his bench coach too, so now that Beltran is gone, maybe Meulens is the right man for the job?

On the plus side, he speaks five languages and is known to have a reputation as someone who can not only relate to players, he can also keep them accountable. On the other hand, the Mets hired him to be their bench coach this offseason; not their manager. He wasn’t even on their radar in terms of being their manager. Maybe he’s better off as a tactician of sorts but isn’t ready to be the full-time leader of the team. At this point, though, they might be stuck giving him a shot as the other options aren’t all that attractive either.

Get the latest Major League Baseball odds and information–follow BetOnline.ag on Twitter!

BetOnline.ag on Instagram–Follow for the latest odds, stats and information!

Just when it seemed like the Mets had found the right guy for the job, Carlos Beltran was booked as…

[136

post-8687","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-mlb
["GET
