We\u2019re halfway through the NBA season but we\u2019ve yet to see the first overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft in action. That will change on Wednesday night as the New Orleans Pelicans will welcome Zion Williamson into the fold. The much-hyped prospect has missed the first part of the season with a knee injury but he\u2019s listed as questionable for Wednesday\u2019s game versus the San Antonio Spurs. However, there is the full expectation that he suits up and plays. With that in mind, let\u2019s take a look at a bunch of props that have been posted for his debut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We weren\u2019t really sure what to expect from the Pelicans this season as they had overhauled their roster in the offseason. They traded away Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers for a sizable haul of young prospects, signed sharpshooter J.J. Redick and then landed the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft. The hope was that it would all come together and produce a team that contends for a playoff spot. As it turns out, they\u2019ve been quite bad. The Pelicans are just 17-27 on the season, which puts them 12th in the Western Conference standings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There have been plenty of positives, such as Brandon Ingram averaging 25.6 points per game along with 6.7 rebounds, but the team hasn\u2019t really come together as expected. Adding a star like Williamson to the mix could change everything \u2013 especially if he\u2019s ready to contribute right off the bat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Williamson was known for his monster dunks on the college scene, so maybe that\u2019s the route he goes for his first NBA-level field goal. He does have a jump shot and he might clean up a miss with a tip-in or a layup, so it\u2019s hard to estimate here. However, we\u2019re expecting this to be the first of many baskets for him this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is a tough call as the Pelicans are going to be very cautious with Williamson. Remember, their season is already lost and tanking for a better draft pick makes more sense for them. However, they\u2019ve also been very cautious with Williamson to make sure he\u2019s fully healthy before returning. Don\u2019t be surprised if they ride him a little bit to see what they\u2019ve got in him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Williamson is slated to score about 12.5 points in Wednesdays game. The Pelicans offense has played quite well of late as the team has won five of seven while averaging 122.8 points per game over their last nine contests. The team is going to feed Williamson the ball to give him as many opportunities as possible. Keep in mind that the Spurs are one of the league\u2019s worst defensive teams, giving up 114.7 points per game (26th in the NBA). Williamson should hit the over as we should see New Orleans get into the 120-point range tonight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
