The women’s side is quite tricky to predict but as the French Open odds have opened up, it’s Serena Williams and Simona Halep who are favored to win.

THE FAVORITES: SERENA WILLIAMS AND SIMONA HALEP
ODDS: +500

The loss endured by Serena Williams in the Australian Open to Wang Qiang was a shocker. Serena had moved very smoothly through the first two rounds of that tournament and then abruptly struggling against Wang was not something she or anyone else had expected. This doesn’t mean Serena won’t do well in Paris. In fact, Serena has come to Roland Garros rusty or injured in each of the last two years, so maybe this time she’ll be in a better place. She was coming off her maternity break in 2018 and had to withdraw after the third round. Last year, she was coming off an injury and looked a step slow in her loss to Sofia Kenin. This year, though, she hasn’t yet suffered an injury. If she enjoys complete health in the months before Roland Garros, she ought to be a top-tier contender for the tournament.

As for Halep, who made the final here in 2017 and won it all in 2018, she is considered by many the best clay-court player in the world. She has to be considered frontline contender for the championship in France.

ASHLEIGH BARTY AND KIKI BERTENS
ODDS: +1000

Barty is the defending champion, so she obviously knows how to play at Roland Garros. However, she got a soft draw last year and had everything fall her way. It would be highly unlikely if Barty, whose best surfaces are grass and hardcourts, won Roland Garros two times in a row. Kiki Bertens is the much better and more consistent clay-court player. She fell ill at last year’s tournament. This is going to be her most important tournament of 2020 and she has a really good chance of going deep in this event.

BIANCA ANDREESCU, NAOMI OSAKA AND GARBINE MUGURUZA
ODDS: +1200

The Canadian sensation, Bianca Andreescu, played one match at the French Open but then withdrew for health reasons. She says clay is her favorite surface but has not played on it very much at the tour level. This will be new for her, dealing with huge global fame after her U.S. Open championship. Naomi Osaka is terrible on clay and she has a long way to go on this surface. Garbine Muguruza is legitimately a top contender after she made a run to the Australian Open final. Muguruza won this championship in 2016.

COCO GAUFF, JO KONTA AND SLOANE STEPHENS
ODDS: +1400

The Coco Gauff hype is warranted to a point, but not to the point that Gauff should be seen as a top contender for the title. She should probably be in the +2500 range. If she makes the fourth round, it would be a great result for her. Jo Konta made the semifinals here last year and could get on a roll, but she is so streaky that it’s not a good bet. As for Sloane Stephens, she is also very talented yet very streaky. You don’t want to rely on her for your futures.

Get the latest tennis betting odds and information–follow BetOnline.ag on Twitter!

BetOnline.ag on Instagram–Follow for the latest odds, stats and information!

The 2020 women’s French Open is still several months away but with the Australian Open in the rearview mirror, the…

[2

post-9070","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-sports
["GET
