Betting on the NBA has become more\nand more popular as basketball has surpassed baseball as the\nsecond-most popular sport in the United States, and the Under\nReview podcast<\/a> has you covered for the rest of the\nseason. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under Review Show–Betting NBA Futures and All-Star Game<\/strong><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The most\nimportant thing to keep in mind when betting\non basketball<\/a> is the value of information. Injuries,\nplayers sitting out, referee assignments, and other factors have a\nmajor impact on the lines, and you will see some big line moves in\nthe hours before tipoff. That\u2019s why it\u2019s typically best to wait\nuntil shortly before tipoff to place your bet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Betting on NBA\nfutures can be profitable too, and the first futures bet our hosts\ndiscuss is Milwaukee to come out of the Eastern Conference at -150.\nThe Bucks have been the best team in the NBA by far this season, but\neveryone is bearish on Milwaukee\u2019s chances to win the conference at\nthis price. There are other strong teams like Philadelphia, Toronto,\nBoston, Indiana, and Miami in the East, and the Bucks only have one\nsuperstar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Giannis\nAntetokounmpo might win the MVP award for a second straight season,\nbut the Bucks don\u2019t have any superstars outside of the Greek Freak.\nEric Bledsoe and Khris Middleton are nice role pieces, but they\nwilted in last year\u2019s playoffs, and Milwaukee had a difficult time\nscoring as opponents clamped down on defense in the postseason. All\nthe contenders in the East play very good defense, and any team that\ncan limit Antetokounmpo can win the conference. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lakers and\nthe Clippers are the big favorites in the Western Conference. The\nLakers are currently\n+175 to win the West<\/a>, while the Clippers are +190 to\nwin the West, and the Under Review hosts believe that one of the\nteams in Los Angeles will make the NBA Finals. Although there is\narguably some value in Denver and Utah at 9-1, there\u2019s no doubt\nthat the Lakers and Clippers are the most talented teams and have the\nbrightest stars in the conference. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s All-Star\nWeekend, so there are other bets to make this week too. While betting\non the All-Star Game is likely to be messy due to the somewhat\nconvoluted nature of this year\u2019s event, betting on the three-point\ncontest, the slam dunk contest, and the skills competition all have\nvalue. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Newcomer Trae\nYoung is +450 to win the three-point contest<\/a> this\nyear, and he is a solid pick at that price. Young has been a\nhigh-volume scorer since his time at Oklahoma, and he has tons of\npractice as he is averaging 9.4 3PA. Duncan Robinson and Davis\nBertans are also good bets to win this contest as Damian Lillard had\nto pull out after suffering a groin injury on Wednesday night against\nMemphis. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The skills\ncompetition has become more and more popular every season, and there\nis some excellent value in two forwards. While guards won this event\nfor the first 13 years of its existence, forwards have gone on to win\nthree of the last four competitions as the bracket format has really\nhelped the big men. Along those lines, Domantas Sabonis and Jayson\nTatum have a great chance to win the event this year as they are both\nvery athletic big men. Tatum won this event last year, so he is one\nof the favorites, while Sabonis has a much better chance than you\u2019d\nthink given his size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nThe slam dunk contest has been rather underwhelming for most of the\nlast decade, and it\u2019s pretty tough to handicap given its\nintricacies. With that in mind, the best bet on the board is probably\nthe biggest underdog in Dwight Howard. Howard is the only contestant\nthat has won this event before, and the +500 odds on him to win the\ncompetition are nothing to sneeze at. Aaron Gordon is the favorite to\nwin the event at +140, but Howard might be the value play. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
