Joe Burrow might not want to be a Cincinnati Bengal<\/a>, but he should rethink that position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mike\nBrown is a terrible general manager and the owner of the team would\nhave fired him years ago if not for the fact that he also happens to\nbe Mike Brown. Cincinnati, as a organization, is lazy and Brown\nclearly doesn\u2019t know what he\u2019s doing. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But\nthings can change. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consider\nthe aforementioned Arizona Cardinals. Before the late 2000s they were\na garbage franchise, owned by the Bidwill family that cared more\nabout filling their stadium with\nother team\u2019s fans<\/a> than fielding a winning team. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then,\ncompletely by accident, in 2009 the Cardinals had\na good team<\/a>. They made it to the Super Bowl. They had\ngood players and a Hall of Fame quarterback in Kurt Warner thanks to\nhim being stupidly cut by another team in their own division. And\nonce the Bidwill family had a real taste of what NFL success looked\nlike, with a real QB tossing the ball, they wanted to keep it. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s\nwhat brought Carson Palmer to the desert and his best years as a pro.\nIt\u2019s what gave him his only playoff victory in his career, a 26-20\nwin over the Green Bay packers with one of the most epic endings in\nNFL history (that stamped Larry\nFitzgerald\u2019s ticket to Canton in the process<\/a>). \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nBengals can do it to. They\u2019ve got the right coach in Zac Taylor, I\nbelieve. They need to make the right free agent moves and I\u2019ve\noutlined some of them already. They need to sign an elite left tackle\n(I say Anthony\nCastonzo is the best option for them<\/a>), slide last\nyear\u2019s first round pick Jonah Williams (who never played a down due\nto injury) to the right side and add a top free agent left guard\nwhile they\u2019re at it (I already picked Brandon\nScherff out for them<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nThey don\u2019t need to worry about bringing A.J. Green back, but\ntossing a load of money at Amari\nCooper would not be a bad idea<\/a>. And while he\u2019s not a\npotential Pro Bowler, the addition of Daniel\nFells at tight end<\/a> makes plenty of sense for a team\nlosing Tyler Eifert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A\nloaded offensive line, a potential pro bowl all-purpose running back\nin Joe Mixon and the addition of Burrow could change this franchise\u2019s\nfortunes for good. We can only hope Mike Brown has accidentally\nstumbled upon this article while Googling Gout remedies. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nNew England Patriots were all-time losers for years before the last\ncouple of decades until they found their quarterback. The San\nFrancisco 49ers, pre Joe Montana, were too. Burrow can be that guy.\nHe should want to be. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because\nthere\u2019s no team at the top of this draft, or any draft, that is a\n\u201cgreat organization committed to winning\u201d until they actually\nbecome one. What they always need to spur that change is the right\ncoach and quarterback. It happened with the Patriots. It happened\nwith the 49ers and, as the best possible example for the Bengals, it\nhappened with the Cardinals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teams don\u2019t become committed to winning championships until a quarterback shows them the way. Burrow did it with LSU. He can do it in Cincinnati. Take the challenge, Joe. Show them the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
