One of the biggest questions heading into their first offseason is who will play quarterback next season? The Raiders are still holding onto Derek Carr but it looks like they’re also courting Tom Brady. The latest report suggests that they’ve offered him a $60 million contract over two years. Are they worth a bet on the over for their regular season win total as they make the move? Let’s take a closer look:

MOVE FROM OAKLAND TO LAS VEGAS

It is historic and significant that the Raiders, who began in Oakland and then left the city, only to come back to Oakland from Los Angeles for another run in the San Francisco Bay Area, have now left Oakland a second time. This divorce feels a lot more permanent than the first one in 1982. Why? Back in the early 1980s, when the Raiders left Oakland for Los Angeles, they moved to an old stadium, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. This move to Las Vegas is occurring in conjunction with a move to a brand-new stadium in a brand-new NFL market. Las Vegas, unlike Los Angeles nearly 40 years ago, did not previously have an NFL team. This is Vegas’ first go-round as an NFL city. The new stadium with all the latest features gives the Raiders a highly lucrative setup and every incentive to want to stay in Nevada for the long haul. When the Raiders moved to Los Angeles before the 1982 season, the Rams were also in Los Angeles, technically the neighboring suburb of Anaheim. Vegas has the Raiders all to itself. The Los Angeles Raiders stayed in L.A. for only 13 seasons. The Las Vegas Raiders will exist for a much longer period of time. What does this mean for the team? The Raiders aren’t used to the Las Vegas heat, though their stadium will have a dome and will likely use the dome in early-season games so that the heat doesn’t become a factor. Nevertheless, the Raiders themselves will be getting used to their new surroundings, not just visiting teams.

REGULAR SEASON WIN TOTAL: 7

The Raiders have been linked to New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. There were in fact reports that the Raiders offered Brady $60 million, in the form of a deal paying $30 million per year for two years. Brady has not yet made his choice, but he is ultimately expected to stay with the Patriots in pursuit of one more Super Bowl ring with the franchise he has guided to six Super Bowl championships and nine Super Bowl appearances overall. If Brady did go to the Raiders, it would upgrade the Las Vegas QB position over struggling Derek Carr, who has never been able to maintain a long-term comfort zone with the Raiders and has not won the trust of his teammates. If Brady doesn’t go to the Raiders, it will be interesting to see if coach Jon Gruden is content with Carr or not. It seems hard to think he is. Ultimately, a quarterback other than Carr is likely to pilot the Raiders in 2020. The identity of that quarterback will determine how many games the Raiders win.

Get the latest NFL football odds and information–follow BetOnline.ag on Twitter!

BetOnline.ag on Instagram–Follow for the latest odds, stats and information!

The Oakland Raiders have become the Las Vegas Raiders.
