The No. 3 Kansas Jayhawks upset No. 1 Baylor on Saturday, ending their 23-game winning streak. As a result of the win \u2013 and many other upsets on the day \u2013 the Jayhawks are now the top favorite to win the NCAA Tournament. Now that they\u2019ve slayed the dragon, are they a good bet on the March Madness odds or is there value with a different squad?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was arguably one of the biggest games in Baylor basketball history on Saturday but the Bears simply didn\u2019t deliver their best effort. Closing as a small 1.5-point home favorite over the Jayhawks, the Bears ended losing 64-61. As a result, their Big 12-record 23-game winning streak was snapped as the Bears lost for just the second time this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bears are now 5-1 against teams ranked in the Top 25. Losing to the Jayhawks, who will probably be the new No. 1 team and who now are riding their own 12-game winning streak, is nothing to hang their heads about. However, there are now some questions as to whether Baylor can really go the distance in the NCAA Tournament. This is a team that\u2019s short on March Madness success and has come together this year. They\u2019re having a fantastic campaign but some bettors will wonder if they\u2019ll come up short in these critical games that they\u2019ll surely face in the second, third and fourth rounds of the NCAA Tournament \u2013 if they get there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was an ugly weekend for ranked teams, so while Baylor fell short, a number of other big losses likely means that the Bears defeat will be glossed over. We can see that in the fact that the Bears are still at +800; they haven\u2019t dropped as much as many people thought they would.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A big reason for it is because Baylor\u2019s No. 1 seeding in the NCAA Tournament shouldn\u2019t be affected. One of the teams that was eyeing a top seed was No. 4 San Diego State, who was previously undefeated. They lost at home to UNLV, who came into the game at 14-14. While that was one of the biggest stunners of the day since the Aztecs were a 14.5-point favorite, it wasn\u2019t the only other upset. No. 2 Gonzaga lost on the road to BYU, so they\u2019re going to fall down the totem pole as well. Gonzaga is now at +800 to win the NCAA Tournament while San Diego State is at +1600.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Sunday, we saw No. 7 Maryland lost on the road to Ohio State and No. 9 Penn State lost on the road to unranked Indiana. Other ranked teams that fell over the weekend include No. 17 West Virginia, No. 18 Colorado, No. 19 Marquette, No. 21 Butler, No. 22 Houston and No. 24 Arizona. The Associated Press\u2019 Top 25 teams will look very different this coming week after so many ranked squads went down. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In terms of the NCAA Tournament, you\u2019ll see the odds below but we\u2019re now looking at Kansas, Baylor, Duke and Gonzaga as the only teams on the board who are inside of 10\/1 to win the championship (they\u2019re all at +800).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
