The former first-round picks spent 2016 recovering from a massive knee injury and played sparingly in 2017 and 2018, but when called up in to step in for Drew Brees for five games in 2019, he delivered. After posting a passer rating of 99.1, there will be a number of teams that consider him a possible starter in 2020. With that in mind, let’s take a look at what the betting odds say as to whether he’ll be a starter in Week 1 2020 and where he’ll land.

WILL TEDDY BRIDGEWATER BE A STARTER IN WEEK 1?

YES: -200
NO: +150

Bridgewater stepped into the starter’s role in 2019 and one of the reasons why he’s getting so much love as a potential starter is because he went 5-0 for the Saints. He did a fantastic job of taking care of the football, throwing for nine touchdowns and just two interceptions on the season. He completed a healthy 67.9% of his passes and won games against some good teams, like the Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys.

WHAT TEAM WILL TEDDY BRIDGEWATER BE ON IN WEEK 1?

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS +125
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS +250
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS +325
LOS ANGELES CHARGERS +600
CHICAGO BEARS +1400
MIAMI DOLPHINS +1400
CAROLINA PANTHERS +1600

The Colts are favored here but keep in mind that the Colts are favored for a number of quarterbacks. For example, they’re also favored to land Philip Rivers. The key here is the team needs a quarterback and has plenty of cap space to make a move.

In terms of the teams we’ve heard for reports and rumors, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were linked to Bridgewater during the 2020 NFL Combine. Tampa Bay is also quarterback needy but bringing in Bridgewater would give them an opportunity to have him compete with Jameis Winston for the starting role. They could also keep him on the bench to start the year and if Winston is still turnover-prone, Bridgewater could take over at that point.

One team that seems to make plenty of sense is the Los Angeles Chargers. They tend to be a frugal franchise and they may not want to pay top dollar for some of the quarterbacks that will be available on the free agent market. Tom Brady apparently had a two-year, $60 million offer from the Las Vegas Raiders and a price tag of $30 million might keep the Chargers out of the running. However, getting a guy like Bridgewater for $10 million could give them a chance to still be competitive next season without breaking the bank completely. They have some good wideouts to surround him with and if they can support him with an improved offensive line, he might be a really good fit for the Chargers.

As for Bridgewater, he’s going to be looking to land a starter’s role. Teams like the Bucs or Chicago Bears might make him compete for the job; a team like the Chargers might hand him the keys to the car, so that landing spot could be attractive to him.

Get the latest NFL football odds and information–follow BetOnline.ag on Twitter!

BetOnline.ag on Instagram–Follow for the latest odds, stats and information!

New Orleans Saints backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is expected to hit the free agent market this offseason.
