NBA Basketball Betting: Daily Picks for Thursday December 3

Posted by The Wiesguy on 12/2/2015 9:01:03 PM

For Thursday there are options to choose from, not just the TNT specials this week. I like that better for hoops because when there are just a couple of games I tend to make bad decisions. Here are the one’s to look for.

Game 1: Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Miami Heat

This is a nice marquee game for Thursday as the heat still have some juice with Chris Bosh and D-Wade even if LeBron is gone. It is always a fun atmosphere when Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are in the building - wouldn’t they have been the ultimate duo for that old video game NBA Jam? OKC had won four in a row before losing at Atlanta earlier in the week while Miami is also coming off a loss as well. That should make both teams just that much hungrier.

Prediction: I really like this OKC team and think you might be able to get them plus some points in this one. Miami is not terrible but I think they are overrated. Their stars are not as bright or as young. Take the Thunder even up to -3 if you have to.

Game 2: Orlando Magic vs. Utah Jazz

These are two upstart teams in their respective conferences. The Jazz are probably further along in their development but the Magic might have a better shot of crashing the playoffs because the Eastern Conference is so bad. The Jazz gave Golden State all it could handle to start the week but came up short. They have had a few days to lick their wounds in advance of this energetic Orlando team. If they have really turned the corner so to speak they should win on Thursday.

Prediction: Look for the Jazz to be small favourites at home. I liked what I saw against the Warriors and in other games against top teams this season. They have an ability to rise to the occasion and I think they will get back up off the mat in this one. Take the home team.

Game 3: San Antonio Spurs vs. Memphis Grizzlies

The Spurs are off to a strong start, second best in the league at 14-4. Memphis has also started well and is looking to gain some ground on San Antonio by evening up the season series in this one. I am not sure it is a great rivalry but my sense is these guys don’t like each other. Really it is probably more sour grapes though, it is not like the Grizzlies can claim even a fraction of the overall success of San Antonio. At home they are tough to beat when they slow the game down and wear you down physically.

Prediction: The Spurs are likely a small underdog in this one on the road. If so that would be just the second time all season. Don’t take the bait, they are 0-1 in those situations. They are 3-0 ATS on zero days rest though, they are playing Milwaukee the night before. Use that result to help with this one. If they win fade, if they lose, back them.
