NBA Basketball Betting: Daily Picks for Saturday December 5

Posted by The Wiesguy on 12/4/2015 9:11:55 PM

The Warriors continue their victory tour this weekend. They are visiting Toronto where Steph Curry spent some of his formative years while his dad played for Toronto. The Raptors nearly brought down Golden State in Oakland so maybe they take advantage of a distracted Curry to seal the deal in this one. Maybe.

Game 1: Golden State Warriors vs. Toronto Raptors

The Raptors have come as close as anybody to beating the Warriors this season. Now they get a chance to host the league’s top team at home but if they are going to push them once again they have to recover from a sloppy loss to Denver on Thursday night. They just dug too big a hole for themselves, perhaps overconfident after their comeback win at Atlanta. The Warriors are a perfect 20-0 and will be well rested. They haven’t played since they took care of business at Charlotte on Wednesday.

Prediction: The Warriors have to be favoured in this one. They were -9.5 at home against Toronto but I would expect something like -5 or -6 on the road. I don’t want to be a homer but I think this could be the spot they fall. Take Toronto.

Game 2: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Miami Heat

There is the obvious connection between these two teams that will make for high drama as long as LeBron is in the league...but this is also a good game because it features the best team in the Eastern Conference against a legitimate challenger. The Cavs are still dealing with injuries in the backcourt, with both of their starters out. That fact was exploited in a midweek loss against the Wizards in which John Wall went off. D-Wade is coming off his best scoring games of the season and must be licking his chops.

Prediction: The Heat will also have the advantage in that Cleveland will be playing the night before while they bask in their win over OKC. The Cavs may be the top team in the conference but this is definitely the spot to fade them.

Game 3: Boston Celtics vs. San Antonio Spurs

Boston is off to a solid start and it looks like they may not let the Raptors run away with the Atlantic Division. I am not sure I am a believer in what they have but this is a nice battle of wits between the top experienced coach (Coach Pop) and the coach of the future. I think Celtics coach Brad Stevens relishes these kinds of moments too. Boston has won four of five and is a .500 team on the road this season. San Antonio is a perfect 10-0 at home and beat during the first week of the season.

Prediction: The Spurs were -5.5 at Boston so expect something more like -8 at home. Boston may be on an upward trajectory but this game will put them back in their place so to speak. Take the Spurs.
