NBA Basketball Betting: Daily Picks for Wednesday December 9

Posted by The Wiesguy on 12/8/2015 10:47:59 PM

Wednesday night is not a particularly great night in the NBA but I like the Raptors taking on the Spurs. As great as Golden State is right now, San Antonio is really the gold standard of success in the NBA. Anytime they are in your building you show a lot to the league, and yourselves based on how you perform. The Raptors have a chance to make a statement, let’s see what they do with it.

Game 1: San Antonio Spurs vs. Toronto Raptors

The Spurs have the second best record in the league and have won nine of ten. They certainly look like the second best team in the league too. Toronto nearly took down the best team, the Warriors on Saturday, and will be primed to show strongly again in this one. This team is always looking for respect and beating teams like this is how you get it. All of the Spurs losses have been on the road this season. This is a veteran group that seldom turns in a down performance,

Prediction: The Raptors will be a dangerous home dog in this one. They were -7.5 against Golden State and covered with a chance to in in the final minute. I see them being -4.5 or so here and this time they get the upset victory.

Game 2: Houston Rockets vs. Washington Wizards

These are two of the more disappointing teams in the league to start the season. The Rockets got off to a terrible start and they have needed to win five of their last six just to get to a game under .500. The Beard has been amazing as usual but the defense is near the bottom of the league. Washington has a similar record and is experiencing some injuries to their big bodies up front. They are coming off a nice win against Miami though. Dwight Howard could have a big day if unopposed up front.

Prediction: This is a good shot for the Rockets except for the fact they are playing the night before at Brooklyn. The Nets are not good but they could take the wind out of this team a little bit. Look to the under here assuming it is set around 203 or so.

Game 3: Memphis Grizzlies vs. Detroit Pistons

Two good teams squaring off here. The Pistons are looking to rebound after getting blown out at Charlotte. Their two stars, Reggie Jackson and Andre Drummond, were complete non factors and they do not have the depth to overcome that. Essentially they both had their worst games of the year in the same game. What are the odds of that happening again? Memphis will try and put the pressure on with their defense and the fact that Marc Gasol is physical enough to push Drummond around in the paint.

Prediction: Buying opportunity here with Detroit off a bad loss. They should bounce back at home in what might be close to a pick’em with the Grizzlies a solid team coming to town.
