NBA Basketball Betting: Daily Picks for Saturday December 26

Posted by The Wiesguy on 12/26/2015 2:37:14 AM

Things get back to normal in the NBA on the day after Christmas. Some teams that were featured don’t even get a break to digest their food and others join the action. We are back to having to choose the games we want to focus on due to the return of the traditional overlapping schedule. It’s still the holidays though so you can take a pass if you want to.

Game 1: Washington Wizards vs. Brooklyn Nets

The Wizards continue to be a frustrating combination of disappointment and injury. In this one every starter except for Marcin Gortat is on the injury report but it looks like John Wall will play. Not likely for Nene, Bradley Beal and Otto Porter though. Even with those injuries they are riding a three game winning streak and can continue on against a bad Brooklyn team. Wall will have to be special and they might need another 36 combined points from the likes of Garrett Temple and Ramon Sessions again. How likely is that though?

Prediction: Look for this one to be about a pick’em. A healthy Wizards team would be the favourite even on the road but they are so banged up and this is a tricky team to get a read on this season. Take Brooklyn.

Game 2: Toronto Raptors vs. Milwaukee Bucks

The Raptors have a love-hate relationship with playing the way they are supposed to. They love to play down to their competition and this could be one of those scenarios on the road versus the disappointing Bucks. They are potentially missing four rotation players to boot. Milwaukee may have won their last two but they still look little like the team that surprised all the way to the playoffs last season. Their defense has completely eroded and the offense, despite additions of Greg Monroe and a healthy Jabari Parker is nothing special.

Prediction: I really want to back the Raptors but beyond the backcourt of Lowry and DeRozan it is really hard to know what you are going to get with this group right now. The defense should be good but scoring enough to win could be tough. Take Milwaukee.

Game 3: Memphis Grizzlies vs. Charlotte Hornets

Both of these teams are lingering just above .500 this season. The Grizzlies have been down lately winning just four of their last ten. Style wise they are exactly what you expect but they have been bringing Zach Randolph off the bench. They are physical which won’t bother the Hornets. Charlotte really needs this game as they have lost three in a row and five of six. Al Jefferson just completed his five game suspension and is expected to be in the lineup for this one. That will help a lot.

Prediction: I think the Hornets will use the return of Big Al to spur themselves to victory in this one. They should be small home favourites and you can back them up to -5 or so.
