College Football Betting: Arizona State Sun Devils vs. Texas A&M Aggies Preview

Posted by The Wiesguy on 8/29/2015 3:53:26 AM

I think this matchup is not getting the attention it deserves. These are two good teams from Power 5 conferences that are very likely to finish the season in the Top 25 in the rankings. Whoever wins will show the rest of their conference that they might actually contend for a division title and will have a nice notch in their belt if they can do something special throughout the season. Both offenses are loaded with talent so the total might be a little too low. For excitement this is definitely a game to watch.

Arizona State Sun Devils vs. Texas A&M Aggies

Saturday September 5

7:00PM

NRG Stadium - Houston, TX

Texas A&M -3, 66.5

Arizona State

Arizona State is replacing their quarterback but they were able to get a good look at Mike Bercovici and the results were awesome last season. They should not miss a beat on that side of the ball with their top rusher returning along with a stable of good receiving options. On defense they are equally excited about the return of nine starters. That gives them the experience they need to play the attacking style they want. They might get burned a couple of times because the Aggies are a very good offensive team but this group does not like to sit back and wait. They are going to force the action.

Texas A&M

Ever since Kevin Sumlin came to College Station the Aggies have been able to put up points and that is not going to change this season. They just announced that Kyle Allen will the starter at QB and he will have plenty of weapons to spread the ball around too. If the Aggies really want to be a contender in the SEC though they have to play defense. Enter John Chavis, one of the more highly regarded defensive coordinators in the land. They have a couple of nice players on that side of the ball and if they can go from terrible to just middle of the pack this is a program that is going to surprise this season.

Prediction: This is a really tough one to call. My head is saying go with the underdog because these teams seem pretty evenly matched and you get the extra cushion but at the same time I am not that keen on ASU coming through in a really big game away from Tempe. Its not quite a home game for the Aggies but pretty darn close. I don’t know if he can get it done for the entire season like he has at LSU and others (he just might not have the horses) but Chavis can be the difference in this one. Take A&M

Pick: Texas A&M -3
