College Football Betting: Bowls of Playoff Week

Posted by The Wiesguy on 12/28/2015 8:25:51 PM

Over the last couple of weeks there have been a number of articles about bowl games. With just a week of bowl action to go here is a look at some of the games still to come that might have slipped through the cracks.

Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl

Nevada Wolfpack vs. Colorado State Rams

Rams -3

I am not sure how this bowl got made because last I checked both of these teams were in the Mountain West Conference. It doesn't bother me too much about teams making it to a bowl with a losing record but this seems kind of silly. Small spread and you are probably right to go with the Rams.

Advocare V100 Texas Bowl

LSU Tigers vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Tigers -7

This would be a huge win or Texas Tech. Even though LSU has not been dominating down the stretch this is exactly the kind of game that the Red Raiders really struggle with. They have lots of time to prepare for the Tigers and they will be able to move the ball. They just have to be able to get off the field too. I don't like their chances. Take LSU.

Birmingham Bowl

Auburn Tigers vs. Memphis Tigers

Auburn -2.5

This is an important game for Memphis. They have had another strong season but they lost their coach and need to show strong here to try and get their "LynchPin", QB Paxton Lynch, to return to campus for another year. Under the best of circumstances they can certainly beat Auburn like they beat Ole Miss but if they are not into it mentally they won't be a good bet. This is a really tough call.

Belk Bowl

NC State Wolfpack vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Bulldogs -5

The ACC is always looking to close the gap on the SEC but this does not look like a favourable matchup to me. It does feature a couple of pivots who could be slinging footballs in the NFL next year in Dak Prescott and Jacoby Brissett. Brissett is going to have to have the best game of the season for NC State to win. Don't count on it. Take the Bulldogs.

Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl

Houston Cougars vs. Florida State Seminoles

Seminoles -7

This is a no win situation for FSU. They are not as good as they have been the past couple of seasons and this year Clemson passed them by. Houston comes in with a chip on their shoulder and the momentum of meeting and exceeding all expectations coming into the season. Their coach is considered a "genius". This is a serious chance to prove it. Take Houston plus the points.

Outback Bowl

Northwestern Wildcats vs. Tennessee Volunteers

Volunteers -7.5

Early in the season Northwestern was the talk of the B10, using a stellar defense to beat the liked of Stanford. Yes they had some clunkers but I think they are being discounted a little too heavily in this one. Tennessee probably has more talent but that talent is super unpredictable. Take the Wildcats plus the points.

Autozone Liberty Bowl

Kansas State Wildcats vs. Arkansas Razorbacks

Razorbacks -13

Arkansas may never climb the mountain in the SEC West to compete with the likes of Alabama and LSU on a regular basis. However, when they get out of the conference, and play to their ability they can dominate. I think this will be one of those situations. Look for the Razorbacks to run right through the disciplined, yet physically, less gifted Wildcats.
