College Football Betting: Wisconsin Badgers vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

Posted by The Wiesguy on 9/1/2015 9:22:03 PM

Alabama has been favoured in 68 straight games so giving them the benefit of the doubt coming into any game is not so farfetched. This games pits them against a Wisconsin team with a new coach and missing its biggest star from a year ago. Still not much is going to change in Madison. If they execute they just might be able to hang with the more talented Crimson Tide. A lot are wondering just what Alabama is going to be this season.

#13 Wisconsin Badgers vs. #4 Alabama Crimson Tide

Saturday September 5

8:00PM

AT&T Stadium - Arlington, Texas

Alabama -10.5, 50.5

Wisconsin

The Badgers head into this season with a new coach, new top running back and even a new quarterback, sort of, as Joel Stave was not the opening game starters a year ago. Despite all that newness don’t expect too much to change for the Badgers. They are still going to run the ball a lot and probably win 10 games. They seem to always do that. Heading into this one you have to question whether any of that newness is going to be positive enough to bridge the gap between them and the next level programs like Alabama or Ohio State (who smacked them in the B10 Title Game last year).. I am not going to say they can’t but I am not suggesting that is going to happen either.

Alabama

It is hard not to give Alabama the benefit of the doubt. In the last six seasons they have won three titles and they competed in the first ever playoff a year ago. With that kind of resume, and top rated recruiting classes, you can still think they are going to be elite even as they replace their top quarterback, receiver and runner from a year ago, plus other losses. This season it looks like they are going to be leaning a little more on the defense but that is OK because they should be among the best in the nation on that side of the ball. If the offense is “just fine” winning the SEC and heading back to the playoffs is within reach.

Prediction: This is a going to be a game of ifs, I suppose most openers are. If Alabama plays at its highest level they will win going away. However, if they are stiff offensively due to not having a signal caller who is getting the job done then Wisconsin has a chance to keep it close throughout because they are solid on defense and likely won’t make mistakes on offense. Betting Bama is a vote for Saban and the Process.
