Johnny Football in trouble again after promising to clean up act

Troubled NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel promised things would be different this time. He would remain clean and sober and was working out in Hawaii to show that he can help a team.

So what happens a day after his promise? Manziel got into an altercation with a wedding guest the day before a friend’s wedding at the Four Seasons Hotel. Manziel insists that he was not the aggressor in a story that appeared on TMZ.com.

Manziel believed the other man was the aggressor and was fed up with being hounded. In a quick decision, Manziel threw one punch and the fight was over in seconds. Police were not called and Johnny Football reportedly sent a bottle of champagne to the unidentified man with a note that read: “Truly apologize. Should have never done that. Know this won’t make it better, but hope it starts the day off right.”

Manziel, 23, is currently an NFL free agent after being released by the Cleveland Browns. No team wants to take a chance on him even as a backup because of a series of fights, alcohol abuse and just plain old silly behavior.

He was a guy that showed promise at Texas [email protected], winning the Heisman Trophy in 2012. His level of immaturity has been troubling. Even his father believes his son could end up dead.

Manziel spent 73 days in a rehab clinic and checked out just in time for offseason workouts in 2015. Coaches and teammates said he looked more focused, drinking less and even moved out of a high priced downtown Cleveland high-rise where the party people of Cleveland lived.

He fell into old habits and was dismissed by the end of summer. He lasted 22 months in Cleveland and finished with seven touchdowns, seven interceptions and seven fumbles. That is hardly the stat line of a franchise quarterback.

Still, teams wanted him, including the Dallas Cowboys. However, he ruptured former girlfriend Colleen Crowley’s eardrum with a punch to the head. Teams now say he is untouchable.

He disappeared from the Browns, but emerged in Las Vegas with a blonde wig and moustache, telling people he was Billy.

Recently he apologized to fans and vowed he would be back. Manziel even posted a video of him working out in Hawaii.

“I have good friends around me supporting what I do and I try to support them in what they want to do,” Manziel told the Washington Post. “I’m not saying I’m never drinking again, but for now just mostly being healthy. I’ve got a killer gym in my house and I can spend time working out. I’m interested in doing a lot of different things in my life – including football – but, right now, I’m just exploring options and waiting to see what the future holds.”

But who can trust him?
