NFL Football Betting: Baltimore Ravens vs. Cleveland Browns Preview

Posted by The Wiesguy on 11/27/2015 11:23:12 PM

These franchises will always be linked by their history but I don’t think anyone saw them being so close to each other in the standings this season. Baltimore has been decimated by injuries and is definitely just playing out the string this season. The same goes for Cleveland but with the added Johnny Football drama. This game is a terrible way to end an elongated weekend of football for fans.

Baltimore Ravens (3-7) vs. Cleveland Browns (2-8)
Monday November 30

FirstEnergy Stadium - Cleveland, Ohio

Browns -3, 41

With Joe Flacco now out for the rest of the year I count that the Ravens have lost their three most impactful players for the year - he joins Terrell Suggs and Justin Forsett. They have a veteran alternative in Matt Schaub but he doesn’t have a ton to work with on offense as leading receiver Steve Smith in on IR too. The only thing the Ravens have going for them right now is a little momentum as they somehow beat St. Louis last week. They are hoping for somebody to take advantage of an opportunity but I don’t know who that is going to be.

This is yet another bad season for the Browns, in fact by every measure it looks like they have taken a step back from last year, when there was just a hint of promise. The record is bad but really it is all of the other stuff that is more concerning. The defense has sunk to near the very bottom and they cannot run the ball. Josh McCown has had a nice season at QB but really he is a stopgap, the question is to what, as Johnny Manziel has neither the talent nor apparently the interest in being an NFL quarterback. There are bad teams out there but these guys are also just messy.

Prediction: I hope this isn’t the turkey talking but I think the play is on Cleveland in this one. The Ravens are just so depleted and this is a funny week to get up for a road game, especially with your backup QB leading the charge. This one is likely to be one of the ugliest games of the year but someone is going to win it. The Browns probably win by seven.

Pick: Cleveland -3
