NFL Football Betting: Minnesota Vikings vs. Arizona Cardinals Preview

Posted by The Wiesguy on 12/8/2015 10:52:58 PM

This Thursday we get a game that looks pretty good...on paper. Arizona is red hot while Minnesota is looking to prove they are still a contender in the NFC North. The Vikings were shredded by Seattle last week and venturing to Arizona will be even more of a challenge. Arizona is one of the top teams in the league this season, by any measure you choose.

Minnesota Vikings (8-4) vs. Arizona Cardinals (10-2)

Thursday December 10

University of Phoenix Stadium - Phoenix, Arizona

Cardinals -7.5, 46

The Vikings are tied for first with Green Bay with a quarter of the season still to go. They have to be pleased with that positioning but concerned that they just got smacked by Seattle last week, at home no less, 38-7. When they are able to get the ground game going with Adrian Peterson this team can look pretty good but last week was a prime example of how to shut them down and Arizona is just as capable of doing that to the Vikings as Seattle was. Minnesota needs to open things up a little and start making plays in the passing game. I am just not sure if they can.

The Cardinals have definitely secured their position among the top teams in the NFL and even though they do not have a perfect record like Carolina they are my choice for the best team in the NFC. They have won six straight and smoked St. Louis last week, one of the two teams to beat them this season. I love the way they can be explosive on offense as well as sturdy on defense - you probably didn’t know they are the top scoring team in the NFL at more than 30ppg. They just have to keep manufacturing a running threat somehow each week.

Prediction: The line is trying to convince you to back Minnesota but I am not falling for it. The way these teams are playing it is hard to make an argument for the Vikings. Arizona can beat you every which way and they will make it very hard for the Vikings to make the explosive plays they need to in the passing game. Just not a good matchup here for Minnesota. Look for the Cardinals to win by 10.

Pick: Arizona -7.5
